Tiki Barber was 'surprised but not shocked' to learn his scorned wife Ginny drew up divorce papers Tuesday.
Tiki Barber was blindsided by his angry wife.
The former Giants running back, who dumped a pregnant Ginny Barber for a blond hottie a decade younger, was "surprised but not shocked" when his spurned spouse filed for divorce Monday, a source close to him said Tuesday.
"He was absolutely under the impression they were holding off on divorce filings until after the kids were born," the source said.
Ginny Barber, 34, is due to deliver Tiki's twin girls next month.
Lawyers for the warring Barbers were in "talks predominantly focused on the children" when her lawyer, Nancy Chemtob, filed divorce papers in Manhattan Supreme Court, the source said.
"He wants joint custody," the Tiki source said. "He has always been an involved father and wants to remain an involved father for all his children. Quite frankly, Ginny's side wants to limit his input."
Married 11 years, they have two sons - A.J., 7, and Chason, 6.
Reports that Barber, 35, is trying to lowball his wife on the financial settlement are "nonsense," the source added.
"All Tiki wants is a fair and reasonable settlement that takes into account where his life is today, not 2006," the source said.
That's when Barber hung up his cleats and embarked on a new career as an NBC correspondent - a gig that's been on the wane since his romance with 23-year-old Traci Lynn Johnson, a former network intern, was exposed.
Barber still has his big-bucks job on the "Today" show, but he has not done a segment since January.
He lost his perch on NBC's weekly Sunday night football telecast when the network recently opted not to renew his deal.
While Barber has been squiring Johnson around, his wife is practically trapped in the marital bed, said a source in her camp.
"There have not been any complications, but her doctor said it's safer for her to stay in bed," that source said. "Aside from visits to her doctor, she's confined to her apartment."
During his Giants heyday, Barber often touted his dedication to family, especially because his own dad abandoned him and his twin, Ronde, when they were 4
