"The Big Picture": Revolution in Kyrgyzstan
Apr 2010
For the last decade, the United States has supported a brutal dictator in Kyrgyzstan. President Kurmanbek Bakiyev was our guy since he allowed a United States military base within the country. The air base has been used for staging air strikes into Afghanistan. This week a full fledged revolt erupted against the brutal regime of President Bakiyev. As always, Boston.com's Big Picture has the best photographs of the revolution. There must be some award this site can receive for its splendid photojournalism.
The following three photographs were taken by (in order): Vyacheslav Oseledko (AFP/Getty), Vladimir Pirogov (Reuters) and Azamat (AP).
