Jason Jay Smart of Kyiv Post: General let me ask you - it you were sitting at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, in the White House and you were making the decisions what would you be doing differently?

Step one, job one is to say to the Kremlin it is our strategic objective that you are defeated, that Ukraine ejects you back to the 1991 borders to the internationally recognized sovereign border that you Russia had also recognized over the past decades. That you will be pushed back and we're going to give Ukraine everything they need to be successful to win this war to defeat you and knock you back to the 1991 borders.
Number two - by the way we have thousands of nuclear weapons so you need to stop threatening the use of nuclear weapons, We have a lot of them as well and in fact let me tell you what's going to happen if you use any tactical nuclear weapons - there will be absolutely catastrophic consequences, things that will hurt you in a significant way.
The next thing I'm going to do is to make sure that all the sanctions that are already in place are properly enforced. The sanctions work but they have to be enforced and there are too many leaks - the Chinese are bringing in all kinds of components, ships are sailing out of Russia with stolen grain and the United States and our allies ought to be able to bring Russia to a halt if using the economic component of our power as well as our military.
And then finally I would direct the use of our air and missile defense systems from inside NATO territory to start shooting down Russian missiles - not Russian aircraft - Russian missiles that are flying towards civilian targets.
That's what I would be doing.
