In An Unsusual Way Mr. Smith (Prosecutor)Goes to Washington (Supreme Court) on Trump Case
Prosecutor Jack Smith and Trump |
Trump alleges he cannot be prosecuted because he was the president of the U.S. Therefore he is immune from prosecution for any crime he might have done.
The case went to the federal judge overseeing this case and she ruled against Trump. Immediadly Trump's lawyers took the case to the Appeals Court.
Prosecutor Smith jumped over the Appeals Court which is very unusual and exceptional, to say the least.
He asked the court to use "Certiorari" in accepting this case and ruling as soon as possible. This is what happened Mr. Smith reminded the court during the Nixon Case. The Prosecutor also asked the Supreme Court to pass the Court of Appeals which is the usual way. In the case of Trump, The prosecutor ascertained that if this case was delayed after the election and Trump won he would ask the Attorney General to dismiss the case and that would be it.
He would go without prosecution for all he has done and will do as President again.
The Supreme Court is expected to take the case because of its importance and hopefully will render a decision the way Mr. Smith is asking.
