Only in New York: Cops Not Safe

I'm critical of the Police when they are wrong but I would like to know where are the protesters defending this cop and asking for a harsh sentence for these two guys? Even a Police Lieutenant is not safe in the subway. I keep a car I can't afford because I won't ride the subway or busses. Then if you defend yourself you get arrested. NYC has a long history of putting victims in jail. Adam

Two New York men face multiple felony charges, accused of brutally attacking an NYPD lieutenant on a subway train

On Saturday evening in the Bronx, police responded to a 911 call of a dispute with a knife. When officers arrived on the scene, a witness said a group of men, possibly with knives, were arguing with a rival group.

During the investigation, officers told two men to get off of the train, but according to the NYPD, they refused and began punching the lieutenant.

EMS took the officer, who was not named, to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition. A photo taken in the hospital showed injuries to his eye and stitches on his forehead and cheek.

The attackers ran away on the subway tracks, WPIX-TV reported , but officers were able to catch them.

Police found a knife, a box cutter, and a razor during the arrests, according to the Yonkers Ledger

Marquise Webb, 24, of Yonkers, and Brian Innocent, 24, of New Rochelle, are charged with assault on a police officer, criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration, criminal trespassing, and disorderly conduct.

The NYPD did not release any additional information.
