I've written about this war. Adam Gonzalez.
I think we should hear what he said.
When you're Russian and sitting in front of the television, watching what's happening in Ukraine like a fictional movie. When you're sitting there, counting down the days until your army takes Kyiv, and you'll open a bottle of champagne to celebrate, thoughts of opposing the war don't enter your mind. But then suddenly, Ukrainian soldiers push back the inhumane Russians from Bahmut.
When Prigozhin cries on camera, saying they are running out of supplies and desertions increased. When so-called "Russian war correspondents" start sounding the alarm on social media, you realize it's too early to go to the store for champagne. And you understand that your stubborn, beloved "leader of the people," Putin, may not stop and end this nightmare and evil. And then, perhaps you too will have to put on a rusty helmet, take a 1954 AK-47 rifle in your hands, and go "defend the motherland." But that wasn't your plan.
You planned to watch a fictional movie, drink champagne, and praise your little leader. Now you have to think about how to avoid the fate of many Russians who ended up in black body bags, and the first thing that comes to a Russian's mind is to start speaking out against the war. And we all understand that this process is unavoidable and will escalate. And all of this is happening not because of the humanity of the Russian people, but because of the heroic Ukrainian Armed Forces and all the kind, courageous people from other countries who fight on the side of light.
