Long Beach QFilm Festival starts Friday!
Your chance to see “Hollywood to Dollywood,” “We Were Here,” “Longhorns” and more!
The Long Beach Q Film Festival is a wonderful event.
The festival, which will take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, is presented by The Gay and Lesbian Center of Greater Long Beach and Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride. It takes place at the historic Art Theater located at 2025 East 4th St. and the neighboring Center Long Beach.
There are several films scheduled that played earlier this summer at Outfest. I’ve seen most of them and can highly recommend: We Were Here, Wish Me Away, Hollywood to Dollywood, and Longhorns all of which are screening on Sunday.
Two high-profile Outfest selections are screening Saturday: Leave it on the Floor and Cho Dependent. Also Saturday are separate short film programs for men and women, and the documentary Inspired: The Voices Against Prop. 8.
Friday night will feature the French drama Tomboy and Judas Kiss. I plan to attend on that day and also go to the parties.
Filmmakers and cast members scheduled to attend the 2011 festival and participate in post-screening Q&A sessions with the audience are: J.T. Tepnapa, Carlos Pedraza and Sean Paul Lockhart (Judas Kiss);Linda Tarryk (Lust Life);Charlie Gage (Inspired: The Voices Against Prop 8);Popo Fan (the China-based director of Be a Woman);Betsy Kailin (Chained);Michelle C. Bonilla (Slip Away); Jacob Halajian(Tsuyako); Lisa Lodico (10,000 Hearts); Gary Riotto and Lindon Warren (Finding Judy); Abdi Nazemia (Revolution); Melissa Osbourne (Change); Glenn Gaylord, Ivanie Murphy, Ms. Barbie-Q, Andrea Meyers and Michael Franklin (Leave It On the Floor); David Dominguez and Autumn Andeen (Photos of Angie); Dan Goldes (UB2); Mike Rose (Couples Therapy); David Lewis(Longhorns); and Gary Lane, Larry Lane and John Lavin (Hollywood to Dollywood).
Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride, producer of the annual Long Beach LGBT Pride Festival and Parade, is once again co-presenting this year’s QFilm Festival with The Center. All net proceeds from the festival will benefit The Center Long Beach.
In addition to the many screenings, there will also be a festival launch party this Thursday night from 7:00-10:00 p.m. at the Silver Fox in Long Beach, and a no-host brunch on Sunday, September 18th, starting at 10:00 a.m. at Paradise Bar & Grill in Long Beach.
