Washington, D.C.-born rapper Wale defends his decision to back out of performing at D.C. Black Pride by saying he didn’t know about the show, according to website

Metro Weekly and the
Washington Blade reported that Wale canceled his headlining performance at the event scheduled for May 30 because he didn’t want to perform at a gay event, the rapper tweeted, "I didn't even know bout a show.. I have done 48 shows this year..and I haven't booked one personally." Wales continued that even though he had been told by his reps not to respond, he felt compelled to do so, because "anybody who knows me an familar w/ my music know that I work for PEOPLE..all ppl."
