 A panel of conservative pundits on Fox News savaged Republican presidential candidate
 Rick Perry Sunday after the candidate had a rough week.
The Texas governor followed a poor debate performance with a loss to Herman Cain in the
 Florida straw poll Saturday, a defeat made even worse by the fact that he had actively 
campaigned there.

“Perry really did throw up on himself in the debate at a time when he needed to raise his
game,” Fox News’ Brit Hume told Chris Wallace. “Perry is about one half a step away
 from almost total collapse as a candidate.”

“This is a much more closed straw poll than the one in Ames, and these are discerning
voters,
very loyal Republican, they’ve been paying attention to this process all along,” The Hill’s
A.B. Stoddard noted. “It was a real slap towards Perry and Mitt Romney. And you really
got
a sense when I spoke to Republicans on Friday — as many as I could after the debate —
the sense was not only that Perry had given a dismal performance and, of course, Romney
had won, but that they don’t like their choices at all.”

A bonkers Bronx man with a machete stabbed his housemate Sunday morning, then set himself on fire only to be rescued by a heroic passerby.

Teddy John, 36, hacked his housemate in the head just before 9 a.m., neighbors and police said.

The nut then doused himself in an accelerant and set himself on fire, sparking a two-alarm blaze in his two-story brick single-family home on Southern Blvd., cops said. It was unclear whether he was trying to torch himself, the building, or both.

The burning building drew the attention of Ken Banks, who was driving by on his way to band practice.

Banks, 58, a drummer with the R&B group The Rhythm Makers, bravely ran up the stairs and dragged the burning man out of the building by his belt, his only item of clothing that hadn't been incinerated.

"I got scorched," Banks said. "He was still in flames. His clothes were burnt completely off of him."

"He had a machete," Banks added. "He dropped it when I was pulling him down. I was shocked."

Cops arrived and sprayed the psycho with a fire extinguisher, Banks said. He was then rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, where he is in critical condition, police said.

The man John stabbed, identified by his family as Hobart Barrow, 65, is in stable condition at St. Barnabas Hospital, cops said.

It took firefighters 38 minutes to bring the house fire under control.

Funeral: Lady Gaga sings moving tribute to bullied gay 14-year-old who committed suicide

Lady Gaga has sung a tribute to a gay 14-year-old boy who sent her a thank you message before taking his own life after he became the target of bullying.

The singer dedicated her iHeartRadio Music Festival performance of 'Hair' to Jamey Rodemeyer, from Buffalo, New York, after he was yesterday buried by his family.

'I just wanted to take a moment because we lost a little monster this week,' said Lady Gaga in Las Vegas last night.

'Jamey, I know you're looking down on use and you're not a victim, you're a lesson to all of us.'

The 14-year-old was a big fan of the singer and sent her a message on Twitter saying 'Bye mother monster, thank you for all you have done, paws up forever,' before he killed himself.

More than 500 people gathered yesterday for the funeral of the teenager who was bullied both at school and online.

Complete strangers were among the mourners who turned out yesterday to support the Rodemeyer family at the service at Saints Peter and Paul Church.

Fellow students drove past the church with trucks and buses covered with signs showing messages of tolerance.

Jamey Rodemeyer regularly posted about being bullied at school and how people would launch gay insults at him.

But what was worse for Jamey, was that when he wrote of his pain and frustrations and cried for help in his blog postings, students at his school started to bully him online.

About 12 months ago on his Formspring account - which permits anonymous posts - other students started making gay references towards him.

'JAMIE IS STUPID, GAY, FAT ANND UGLY. HE MUST DIE!' read one post.

Another read: 'I wouldn't care if you died. No one would. So just do it :) It would make everyone WAY more happier!'

On September 9, Jamey wrote on his Tumblr site: 'I always say how bullied I am, but no one listens. What do I have to do so people will listen to me?'

The day before he wrote: 'No one in my school cares about preventing suicide, while you're the ones calling me [gay slur] and tearing me down.'

He put up a separate post that day letting everyone know it was National Suicide Prevention Week.

But still no one listened. 

Last Saturday night he posted a lyric from Lady Gaga's song The Queen on his Facebook page which said: 'Don't forget me when I come crying to heaven's door.'

On 1.30am on Sunday morning, he left two final messages on one of his blogs saying he was looking forward to seeing his great grandmother, who recently died, and one as a tribute to Lady Gaga, thanking her.

His mother Tracy Rodemeyer , told Buffalo News: 'He touched so many hearts, so many people. I didn't realize how many people he touched. 

'He was the sweetest, kindest kid you'd ever know. He would give all his heart to you before he gave any to himself.'

She said that her son had been questioning his sexuality over the last year and that his fellow students picked up on it and used it to taunt and bully him.

Friends of the 14-year-old reported the message posts to the school guidance counsellors, she said, but by then it may already have been too late.

'He was totally against bullying. He has had issues since fifth grade. He had suicidal tendencies back then,' she told Buffalo News.

She said she tried to talk to him on numerous occasions and asked him to talk to her about what was wrong, but he assured her that he was OK.

The weekend before he died, his family went to a camping spot they would frequently go to and his mother said he seemed really happy.

Scene: Jamey is the second student at Williamsville North High School to commit suicide in the last two years

Mrs Rodemeyer said: 'He used to cry about the taunts from his peers but they didn't seem to phase him this time. Lately, he's been blowing them off, or at least we thought he was.'

Jamey was a new student at Williamsville North High School and the student known to have committed suicide there since 2010. Joe Chearmonte, a junior honor student, died in February of last year.

Gay Romance “Weekend” Scores Big Numbers in Limited Debut

 While “The Lion King 3-D” fended off the likes of Brad Pitt and a dolphin in a heated race for the top grossing studio release, the specialty box office had a clear winner in “Weekend,” Andrew Haigh’s drama about a gay romance that takes place over the titular timeframe. According to estimates provided by Rentrak earlier today, the Sundance Selects release scored a $25,200 gross from its lone engagement at the IFC Center in New York. Sundance Selects said they’re “thrilled” with the opening numbers and will expand through the major markets in the next two weeks. Beyond “Weekend,” numerous other specialty titles made their debuts this weekend. Marc Forster’s “Machine Gun Preacher” opened on 4 screens in New York and LA for distributor Relativity Media. The film, which stars Gerard Butler as the founder of the Angels of East Africa rescue organization, took in $44,000 for a very respectable $11,000 per-theater-average. Relativity had acquired North American rights from Lionsgate, which will continue to oversee International distribution for the film. Next Friday, the company will expand the film into 15 new markets including Toronto, Boston, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Phoenix, Seattle, Portland, San Diego and San Francisco.  

Also debuting on 4 screens was Millennium Entertainment’s release of Adam and Mark Kassen’s “Puncture.” Starring Chris Evans as a drug-addicted lawyer who takes on a health supply corporation, the film took in $35,714 for a $8,929 average.

On a sole New York City screen, “Limelight” - Billy Corben’s documentary on former New York City club owner Peter Gatien - grossed $9,000.

Roadside Attractions released Mark Landsman’s doc “Thunder Soul” on 35 screens this weekend. It grossed $55,800 for a $1,594 average. The film follows alumni from Houston’s storied Kashmere High School Stage Band who return home after 35 years to play a tribute concert for their beloved band leader who turned the struggling jazz band into a world-class funk powerhouse in the early 1970s.

And after an impressive one-night-only screening last Tuesday on 60 screens across North America (where it took in $280,343), Cameron Crowe’s “Pearl Jam Twenty” continued to find good numbers in the 9 screens that held it over for an additional week of release. The film took in $89,514 for a per-theater-average of $9,946. Including Tuesday’s numbers the Abramorama-distributed film has grossed a very strong $369,857.

Among holdovers, Gus Van Sant’s “Restless” continued its disappointing run. The teenage romance, starring Mia Wasikowska and Henry Hopper, expanded from 5 to 17 screens but only rose 12% in grosses, taking in $17,357 for a weak $1,021 per-theater-average. The Sony Pictures Classics release now stands with a total of $41,338.

Faring a bit better was Lech Majewski’s “The Mill & The Cross,” which went to 5 screens in its second frame. The film took in an estimated $17,000, averaging $3,400 and taking its total to $39,157. The film is being distributed through Kino Lorber.

Also in its sophomore frame was Cohen Media Group’s release of Jean Becker’s “My Afternoons With Margueritte,” which stars recent newsmaker Gérard Depardieu as an illiterate and lonely man who bonds with an older and well-read woman. The film went from 2 to 29 screens and took in $77,697, averaging $2,679. The film has now grossed $109,397.

Meanwhile, Paladin’s release of Webby founder Tiffany Shlain’s documentary “Connected” struggled as it expanded to 7 screens, grossing $7,250 for a $1,036 average. It’s now totalled $22,918. The film opens in Los Angeles 9/30, and Seattle on 10/7 before hitting New York on 10/14.

In its third weekend, comedian Kevin Hart continued to find fantastic numbers at the box office with his “Kevin Hart: Laugh at My Pain,” an independently released movie version of his 2011 comedy tour. The film expanded from 230 to 287 screens and grossed another $1,183,683. That’s a slight 1% drop from last weekend and made for a $4,124 average and a stellar new total of $5,214,166.

The film was produced for only $750,000 by Jeff Clanagan, chief executive of independent production company Codeblack Entertainment, which distributed the movie domestically in AMC Theaters.

Vera Farmiga’s directorial debut “Higher Ground” dropped from 81 to 64 screens in its fifth weekend, grossing $74,132 as a result for distributor Sony Pictures Classics.  With a $1,158 average, the film saw its cume climb to $581,353.

In its seventh weekend, Asif Kapadia’s acclaimed documentary “Senna” went from 37 to 31 screens for the Producers Distribution Agency and took in another $40,067, averaging $1,292 and taking its total to $1,188,507.

Gilles Paquet-Brenner’s aforementioned “Sarah’s Key” also continued an impressive run.  In its tenth weekend, The Weinstein Company title went from 266 to 151 theaters.  As a result, the French-language film starring Kristin Scott Thomas grossed another $131,000 for a per-theater-average of $868. The total for “Key” now stands at $6,581,183. As it nears the end of its theatrical run, the film has truly become a sizable hit for the Weinsteins and the highest-grossing foreign-language films of the year.

Finally, Sony Pictures Classics’ release of John Michael McDonagh’s “The Guard” passed another milestone. The Irish black comedy starring Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle dropped from 202 to 167 theaters in its ninth frame and took in $276,409 for an average of $1,655.  That also put it passed the $4 million mark as it found new total of $4,192,238.

ALAN CUMMING AND GARRET DILLAHUNT SHACK-UP

 A heavy layer of 1970s grit settles over the new period drama, Any Day Now, written, produced and directed by filmmaker Travis Fine (The Space Between) and starring Alan Cummings, Garret Dillahunt, Frances Fisher and newcomer Isaac Leyva.

Cumming and Dillahunt star as the gay couple—the former an aging drag performer, and the latter a closeted Deputy District Attorney—who decide to adopt an abandoned teenager with Down Syndrome (played by Isaac Leyva, an actor with Down Syndrome). Fisher plays the hard-headed family court judge overseeing the couple’s adoption case with grip and grace.

Even though the film is based upon a script written by George Arthur Bloom more than 30 years ago, many say that the results seem utterly relevant and fresh, pulsing with life and stirring depth.

“I’m a huge fan of the gritty, character-driven dramas that were made during the 1970′s,” said Fine . “Any Day Nowoffers me an opportunity as a filmmaker to revisit that time period cinematically, address social issues that are just as relevant today as they were 35 years ago and explore unique characters who discover love in the most unlikely of places.”

Wayne Smith and Dan Skahan, a gay couple who have fostered more than 30 children, executive produced along with Anne O’Shea (The Kids Are All Right).

No more anonymous 'defriending': New Facebook The'll know it was you

With a slew of cosmetic changes and tweaks, Facebook users could be forgiven for getting a little frustrated over the last few days.

But the social network's new Timeline feature looks set to really enrage users after it emerged the ability to anonymously 'defriend' people will become a thing of the past.

Using the new feature, which is set to be rolled out in the near future, users will be able to see all their entire Facebook history - including their shifting friends lists.

Along with every picture, message and app used, Timeline will allow people to see which of your previous 'friends' at somepoint decided to end the relationship.

WHAT IS TIMELINE

The new timeline feature is reminiscent of an online scrapbook, with the most important photos, text, music and video that users have shared or will share on Facebook over the years.

The timeline can go back to include years before Facebook even existed, so users can add photos and events from, say 1995 when they got married or 1970 when they were born.

It is intended to replace the current layout, but critics have said it may alienate some of the 'older' Facebook generation.

The redesigned pages have a more magazine-like photo-heavy feel, with a large 'cover photo' at the top of the page .

On the right of the page there will be a timeline that breaks down all posts from a person's time on Facebook and allows viewers to jump back to people's earliest posts with a break down month-by-month.

For the first time, the site will allow you to add photos and content from before Facebook existed in a new 'Way Back' section.

Zuckerberg said the new profile page had been designed so that, 'you can tell the whole story of your life on a single page'.

Speaking to BuzzFeed, community manager at Mashable Meghan Peters said: 'There is a way where you can go in to a certain point in time and basically, if you look at your friends tab, maybe from three years ago, and you see the ‘Add Friend’ button from someone in that list, that will basically tell you that they have defriended you since you became their friend.

'I think that people will definitely be upset by it.

'I mean, it always hurts to know that someone isn’t your friend anymore.'

The Facebook is trying to evolve from an Internet hangout where people swing by to share tidbits, links and photos to a homestead decorated with the memories, dreams and diversions of its 800 million users.

In what may be the boldest step yet in the company's seven-year history, Facebook is redesigning its users' profile pages to create what CEO Mark Zuckerberg says is a 'new way to express who you are.'

It is betting that despite early grumblings, its vast audience will become even more attached to a website that keeps pushing the envelope. 

To that effect, it is introducing new ways for people to connect with friends, brands and games while also sharing details about their lives from the mundane to the intimate.

'If you look at Facebook's history, obviously they are not afraid of making change,' said Sean Corcoran, an analyst with Forrester Research.

'They have done a lot of big changes in the past and people have gotten upset. But most of the time Facebook has been right.'

Zuckerberg introduced the Facebook 'timeline' along with new entertainment and media company partnerships on Thursday in San Francisco, at the annual 'f8' conference attended by about 2,000 entrepreneurs, developers and journalists.

The event was also being broadcast to, at one point, more than 100,000 online viewers.

The changes seek to transform how and how much people share things online, just as Facebook has been doing since its scrappy start as a college-only network.

The overhaul also presents a new challenge for Google Inc., which has been scrambling to catch up with the launch of its own a social network, Google Plus, three months ago.

The timeline, which will eventually replace users' current profile pages, is reminiscent of an online scrapbook filled with the most important photos and text that they have shared on Facebook over the years.

It's where people express their real selves and merge their online and offline lives even more than they are doing now.

Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles Will Perform For Obama At Fundraiser

This does not surprise us at all. President Obama made sure to support the gay community from the time he took office. While he passed more bills in favor of homosexuality than any president in history (actually any president), he's made it clear that he will do anything for approval and 2012 votes. The performance of the Gay Men's Chorus Of Los Angeles for Obama's fundraiser only tells us he surely cares for this interest group over many others.

When President Obama comes to Los Angeles on Monday for two fundraisers, the faithful gathering at the House of Blues will have to content themselves with musical selections by rapper and singer-songwriter B.o.B., Adam 12 and the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles, notes The Hollywood Reporter— something for everyone perhaps, but not exactly top-of-the-marquee material.
The House of Blues line up is further indication that while Hollywood’s upper strata — measured by income and star wattage — may ultimately rally behind the president, there is little enthusiasm for the man now.
