Things to Know}} Can President Biden Take Trump's Security Clearance

Typically, former Presidents are allowed to keep their security clearance, so as to allow them to be kept informed of ongoing concerns; many Presidents will consult their predecessors if they feel it would be helpful and appropriate.

However, this is only done by the permission of the sitting President; that clearance can be revoked by the President at any time, for any (or no) reason at all.

So, yes, Biden can revoke Trump's clearance as soon as he's inaugurated (although it's more accurate to say Trump will lose his clearance as soon as he's no longer President, and Biden can choose to not reinstate it). And while that would normally be unusual, given Trump's close ties to certain foreign interests, if wouldn't seem to be unwarranted. (But then, Trump also barely seems interested in such matters now, while he's still President, so him suddenly taking an interest as an ex-President would be suspicious on its own.)
