David Bromstad of Color Splash A ‘Cheap Whore’ Selling Out to The Salvation Cero

David Bromstad HGTV Design Star Host

David Bromstad, the openly gay designer and host of HGTV’s “Color Splash” series, is coming under fire for hosting an upcoming event  on Oct. 18 for the Salvation Army. I have his statement to his fans on Facebook below but to me is so strange to help on organization as homophobic as the Salvation Army. The thing is he will make a lot of money for them which in turn will be use for lawyers and politicians to oppose  and fight gay marriage in court and every where. Not only gay marriage but on anything gay, they will spend money to oppose any type of civil rights for us. If the money was purely used to helped the needy then what the hell. For many years I and many gays were fooled by that illusion. Money to help the needy. They had this thing under wraps until finally the secret was out when the connection was made and then they were out in the open. If they were the only ones, but there are so many charities that use the money to help and money put aside for anything else besides expenses would be to generate more money such as advertising, not on lawyers and politicians to fight what we so hardly are trying to achieve which is just equality. May be some of those brain cells have been burnt out but his reasoning below in my opinion does not hold water. I think he is a cheap whore to be looking for the spot light that way.  May be he is like Putin who never measured the complications he was buying by passing laws against gays. Salvation Army which has not moved an inch though out the years is as homophobic as they come but the thing is they make money using the name of the poor and then use it to fight civil rights by a whole community of LGTB. May be both him and the Salvation Army should listen to the pope more often

Bromstad took to his Facebook to address the controversy – saying:

Dear fans,

I’ve read your feedback on my participation with The Salvation Army USA, as an openly gay person whom just happens to also be a celebrity, I took the Salvation Army’s request to participate in their fundraiser as one step in the right direction towards equality. If we simply separate ourselves from those that we assume appose us or our beliefs then we will never make strides in the right direction. I applaud the Salvation Army’s symbolic handshake towards acceptance and would be foolish to not extend my hand in acceptance.

As of this writing there are almost 300 comments on his Facebook post, most shaming him for agreeing to host an event for a company which has expressed anti-gay viewpoints in the past.

If you have thoughts about this feel free to share.
