Video of 5 Men Brutally Attacking Transgender Woman in Russia

“In this video is of anti-LGBT activists in Russia, five men brutally beating a trans woman in broad daylight, in a public park," according to a post with the YouTube. "The video, posted on popular Russian social networking site VK, appeared on a page titled Straights for Equality, a group advocating for LGBT rights. The intention was to highlight the persecution of LGBT people in Russia.”

It has been reported that anti-gay and anti-trans Russian hate groups have been using social media and the Internet to lure young gay and trans individuals into real life meetings that typically end with beatings, torture and other forms of humiliation. These meetings are taped and then posted on the Internet.

It remains to be seen whether lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender athletes, attendees and coaches will be held accountable to the Russia's anti-LGBT legislation during the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
