Honey BOO BOO Turns Gay Rights Fighter
BY MARK WORGAN
\ She may seem like an unlikely gay rights activist, but it appears that 7-year-old Honey Boo Boo star Alan Thompson has made her try to become a latter day Harvey Milk by campaigning for gay rights.
She joined GLAAD's (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) Spirit Day
celebration today by appearing in an ad that encourages people not to pick
on those with a different sexuality.
In the ad she says: "Ain't nothing wrong with bein' a little gay. Everybody’s
a little gay!"
Mama June told E!: "We've always supported gay people, even long before
the show started," adding: "We didn't just do it because we have the show.
Some people are kind of scared - what you'd call homophobes -but
everyone knew Sugar Bear had a gay brother. It's not a big deal."
Today's Spirit Day asks people to wear purple in support of gays, lesbians
and transgendered people to stand up against bullying and discrimination.
To be as serious as it's possible to be in relation to Honey Boo Boo, who’s
risen to fame off the back of a love spaghetti (pronounced sketti) with
various calorific foodstuffs and a desire to become a beauty queen,
we think it's great that Alana and mum are backing the campaign.
She joins other celebs including Mario Lopez, Ashley Benson and
Jimmy Kimmel, if it helps out someone who would otherwise be subjected
to abuse for their sexuality, then well done Honey Boo Boo!
