Talking About Scum Bag Pres Hopeful and Anti gay Ex Senator Santorum, FB, Searches &
To a certain degree, I have to agree with former Senator Rick Santorum that what Dan Savage did to him was wrong, and rather vile. It took away from the high ground when dealing with this very homophobic man. This has, of course, lead to Santorum’s “Google problem” in that, he will not be able to be searched on the web without that neologism cropping up. Today, MSNBC’s Chuck Todd asked Santorum about this “Google problem”, to which Santorum responded “unfortunately there are vile people out there who do horrible things.”
Horrible things like claiming that legalizing same-sex marriage will lead to man on dog sex, perhaps? Let us be clear, while what Savage did was wrong, what Santorum has done over the years is worse. He has vilified lesbians and gays time and time again in order to try and claim some kind of moral superiority when, in reality, he is just showing off how much of a bigot he is.
In 2005, he tried to blame the culture, and probably homosexuality, for the child sex abuse scandal in the Roman Catholic Church saying “It is startling that those in the media and academia appear most disturbed by this aberrant behavior, since they have zealously promoted moral relativism by sanctioning “private” moral matters such as alternative lifestyles. Priests, like all of us, are affected by culture. When the culture is sick, every element in it becomes infected. While it is no excuse for this scandal, it is no surprise that Boston, a seat of academic, political and cultural liberalism in America, lies at the center of the storm.”
With regards to homosexuality, Santorum has stated:
“If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything.”
“Whether it’s polygamy, whether it’s adultery, whether it’s sodomy, all of those things, are antithetical to a healthy, stable, traditional family.”
“In every society, the definition of marriage has not ever to my knowledge included homosexuality. That’s not to pick on homosexuality. It’s not, you know, man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be. It is one thing. And when you destroy that you have a dramatic impact on the quality —”
Let us face it, while what Dan Savage did was rather wrong, what Santorum has done is even worse. He has helped to vilify and marginalize a group of people often victimized by hate and violence. So, yes, Mr. Santorum, vile people do horrible things…but start by looking in the mirror when you say that.
