Surveys and News What America Believes

In our first poll of 2026, we found that 49% of Americans believe Trump is too old to be president, while 73% say the U.S. should introduce a maximum age for the presidency. Views are also sharply split along party lines, with an enormous gap between the opinions of Democrats and Republicans.

Foreign policy also featured strongly in our January research. By 54% to 31%, Americans oppose using military force to invade Venezuela; and while they are similarly reluctant to support intervention in Iran, most believe it is at least somewhat likely in the next month.
