Facts About Qatar Jet:
* It is a Hand me down.. This a jet with a bunch of others that Qatar over bought until the economy of the Covid epidemic change the numbers of the traveling world population. It's been sitting there eating up thousands of dollars every month. Un like your bike you can't leave a plane sitting on the hangar even if it's inside. In this case it wasn't . But you keep it in good shape by maintenance, running it, etc. Qatar wanted to keep this plane ready to go but no fool approach them. You see it is an old plane by today's standards. Then imagine the amount of millions to bring it  up to modern standards and adding all the security measures a Presidential plane is expected to have. So Why Trump wants it?
2 Reasons; First he already announced it before having the facts like all his other  decisions are made. The Secondly;  The plane is going to be his. The government is going to make an aging luxury jet his. Even if he doesn't get it back at the end of this term, he truly believes there will be another term coming along after this one. The it will be in. his library which by then it will be a museum piece, but that's were it will be house. I don't think there will be any libraries built. These Presidential Libraries take decades to raise the money and be. built. The are allowed in part for gratitude tot he Chief. Well When this nations hits the cellar there won't be much gratitude left. There isn't now except people employed by the government.
*Qatar is full of navy business people. Business people don't give things away, they invest. That is whaat why will get, money for their in vestment, good will and Trillions of weapons in 10 yrs. Besides there were no takers for this Albatross of a plane. Too much gas, too big, too easy to spot.
* Its a 747..They don't make those anymore. Had it been a 787 or even 777 which a really beautiful plane and it does not look pregnant.

President Donald Trump has doubled down on his highly-criticized plan to accept a luxury Boeing jet from Qatar, claiming that the “free” gift will save the United States money that can instead be spent to “Make America Great Again.”

“The Boeing 747 is being given to the United States Air Force/Department of Defense, NOT TO ME! It is a gift from a Nation, Qatar, that we have successfully defended for many years,” Trump said in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, late on Tuesday, May 13.

“Only a FOOL would not accept this gift on behalf of our country,” he added, after stating that the gifted jet—a Boeing 747-8 worth an estimated $400 million—will be used as a “temporary Air Force One” whilst the U.S. waits for its official jet to be ready.

Trump further explained his stance during an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, which aired on Tuesday night. He said he’s still waiting to receive the Air Force One jet that he signed off on during his first term—a wait he predicts will last another two years—and that Qatar offered to help provide a plane in the interim.

He claimed that other countries have far superior planes to the current Air Force One: “We’re the United States of America and I believe we should have the most impressive plane.”

"Some people say you shouldn't accept gifts for the country, my attitude is: 'Why wouldn't I accept a gift? We're giving to everyone else,’” Trump argued.

“I get nothing, I get to fly it like any other President would," he added, stating the Qatar-gifted jet will be "decommissioned" once the U.S.-ordered Air Force One plane is ready. (Two modified Boeing 747 planes serve as Air Force One.)

Of the pre-ordered jet that’s currently under construction, Trump said: “We’re painting it red, white, and blue. Just like the American flag.”

Trump’s planned acceptance of this gift has raised legal and ethical concerns from both Democrats and Republicans.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said on Tuesday that he would be placing a blanket hold on Justice Department nominees awaiting Senate confirmation until the White House provides a full accounting of the deal.

“This is not just naked corruption, it’s the kind of thing that even Putin would give a double take,” Schumer said on the Senate floor.

Democratic Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts told TIME: “He’s going to turn Air Force One into Bribe Force One. Congress has to be involved with such a clear threat to our national security.”

Republicans such as Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas also voiced their concerns over the gift from the Qatari royal family, highlighting the security risks of accepting the jet and the potential high costs of checking the Boeing for foreign surveillance devices.

Well-known conservative voices have taken issue, too. Right-wing commentators Laura Loomer and Ben Shapiro have both sharply criticized the President’s plan, with Shapiro citing Qatar’s relationship with Hamas officials, some of whom who previously resided in the country.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who serves as Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, weighed in on the debate during an interview with CNN on Wednesday.

The Qatari leader described the planned gifted jet as a “very simple government-to-government dealing."

“It’s still under legal review. I don’t know why it became so big as news," he said. "We have done a lot together with the U.S."

When asked if this was a case of Qatar "buying influence" with the U.S., Al-Thani responded: "Why would we buy influence in the United States? If you look at the last 10 years of the U.S.-Qatar relationship, Qatar has always been there for the U.S. when it's needed... we believe this friendship needs to be mutually-beneficial for both countries. It cannot be a one-way relationship."
