This 4th Putin Calls For ‘Equality’ in US-Russian Relations, Equality?
I am posting this clip from Putin’s message to Pres. Obama because I was surprised that Mr. Putin would use the word equality to bring attention to what he would like in is relationship with this country. I don’t think he knows what the word means in the english language. Wish “equality” would be what what he and his country would see having with the Russian gay/lesbian community.
In honor of the United States celebrating Independence Day on July 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin asked for dialogue between the two nations – and respect from President Obama.
The message was delivered through a statement issued by the Kremlin, USA TODAY reported:
“Vladimir Putin expressed confidence that Russia and the USA can find solutions to the most complicated international issues and efficiently resist global threats and challenges as they base their dialogue on principles of equality and respect of each other’s interests.“The Russian president noted that despite the differences between the two countries, Russian-American relations remain the most important factor of international stability and security.”
Putin and Obama have not been on the best of terms recently, as a result of Russia’s involvement in the Ukrainian civil war. The Kremlin denies that it’s been backing separatists who are behind the civil unrest in the former Soviet state’s eastern region, but there’s mounting evidence to the contrary.
The Russian leader made no mention of the situation in Ukraine, or any sanctions placed on Russia, in his message.
The two leaders last spoke to each other on June 25, when during a phone call Obama once again asked Putin to uphold the Minsk agreements, which requires the Kremlin to remove Russian militants and mercenaries from Ukraine.
According to CNN, several reports have suggested that Russia has already violated the agreements, which were agreed upon in February.
