New court documents offer more details about the possible motive of a gunman who killed two people outside an Arizona gay bar before killing himself.
According to a search warrant, Tucson investigators searching Ousman Ceesay’s car and home found a note indicating that he intended to target members of the LGBTQ+ community, whom he “blamed for recent health problems,” as reported by Tucson NBC affiliate KVOA. The document shows police also found additional letters, ammunition, and electronics.
No further information was immediately available about the health problems described in the note. Police believe Ceesay, 44, shot and killed Vincent Anthony Siqueiros, 42, and Cameron Davis Capara, 33, before shooting himself.
Investigators say he confronted the men outside Venture-N and possessed “a note with several LGBTQIA+ associated businesses written on it.” That prompted authorities to investigate the shooting as a hate crime from the outset. The shooting rocked the community, and thousands gathered at a vigil last month to remember the victims.
Police later said Ceesay appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound involving the same 9mm handgun used to kill both victims.
Capara was buried in Tucson, where a long line of mourners placed flowers on his casket before it was lowered, according to Tucson Queerstory. He was a photographer who documented social justice issues in Arizona. Family and friends remembered Siqueiros as a kindhearted member of the Tucson LGBTQ+ community.
Police responded to reports of gunfire outside Venture-N around 12:30 a.m. on August 31 and found both men dead at the scene. Ceesay was wounded and taken to the hospital, where he died.
Tucson Mayor Regina Romero said investigators believed Ceesay intended to carry out additional violence.

“Tucson Police Department Investigators confirmed that the suspect possessed addresses for multiple LGBTQ+ friendly venues, intending to cause more harm,” Romero said in an Instagram statement.
After Ceesay’s death, police said there was no immediate threat to businesses. Authorities increased the police presence following the shooting
