Wells Fargo has more than 40 locations in 32 different Idaho towns, so there’s a decent chance that you may bank with them. If you do, this is a number you should absolutely block. The Knoxville, TN number has been linked to a scam telling the victim to call ASAP because their debit card has been locked due to fraud activity. If you are a Wells Fargo, you may be tempted to call the number or click the link they provided to you to take care of the fraudulent activity. Don’t do that. Call the customer service number printed on your card or go to a branch to ask your questions.

If you live in a confusing apartment complex or are having your packages delivered to your suite in a large office building, this might look legit to you. It’s a text telling you there’s a failed delivery and that you should call this number to rectify the problem. We’d hope you’d pause to think about if you were actually expecting a package and question why the text from this Dallas area code doesn’t identify which carrier they’re with. But, we’re initially writing this during the holidays and we totally understand why you’d just do it to ensure your packages arrive in time.

Publishers Clearing House is still a thing?! We had no idea because it’s not nearly as popular as it was back in the 1990s. This California number is most frequently linked to a Publishers Clearing House scam claiming that you won one of their sweepstakes. Other times, the scammers pretend to be a major credit card company’s fraud department. BeenVerified explains that one of their users that got a fake Visa fraud call was told that if she hung up a $499 unauthorized charge would go through.

This one’s very similar to the Wells Fargo scam we mentioned earlier except the bank changes. One day your account was compromised at Chase. Another day, PNC. Wells Fargo’s was used too. By choosing popular national bank bands that are available nationwide, they’re betting on you having an account of one of those and calling this San Diego based number. Don’t do it unless you REALLY are asking for fraudulent activity on your account.

If you’re someone who’s managed to resist credit cards most of your life, this is the bank scam looking for you. It’s looking for people who use debit cards instead. Like the other scams, it’s telling you your account has been frozen. Unlike the others, it doesn’t mention an actual bank because they’re gambling on the fact that just about every American has a debit card. The Florida based number isn’t linked to any credible bank.

Warning Issued By FBI To All E-Zpass Users In New York

The FBI says officers have received thousands of recent E-ZPass scam complaints.

In 2017 alone, 16.7 million individuals were impacted by identity theft, and more than $16.8 billion dollars were stolen. With the right information, scammers can steal and use your identity to open a line of credit in your name, take money out of your bank accounts, or obtain services that they never pay for—to name a few.

Identity theft can be hard to uncover, as scammers often go to great lengths to keep you unaware such as ensuring all bills and statements are sent to an alternative address. Make sure to regularly check your accounts for unexplained withdrawals and check your credit score often to ensure no unauthorized accounts have been opened in your name. You should also carefully guard your personal information—keeping all personal documents in a secure location and never giving out information to unsolicited callers.
