The 32 year old Canadian Cannibal has been Sentenced

Luka Magnotta is going to be in Jail for life (paroled?).This blog covered Russian born Luka Magnotta from the early days. This chapter is now closed but not the book on this bad tempered confused man. Just like Jeffrey Daimler he is too young to not be involved in something else, wether is an escape or eating the wrong type of meat in jail (you can search what has been posted here about him by checking the tag Cannibal or and  or Cannibalism)

The New York Daily News reported today the following:

A former gay porn actor known as the "Canadian cannibal" has been sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of killing and dismembering his Chinese lover and mailing the body parts to schools and political parties.

A Montreal jury deliberated for eight days before finding 32-year-old Luka Magnotta guilty of first-degree murder Tuesday in the 2012 slaying of Jun Lin, 33.

Magnotta had pleaded not guilty, hoping to be found criminally responsible by way of mental disorder after confessing to the murder.

"I thought we had good evidence of premeditation," prosecutor Louis Bouthillier said. "There was never a doubt the jury would find Magnotta guilty of first-degree murder.

"(But) it's always great as a prosecutor to hear the words guilty coming out of the jury at the end of the trial."

The victim's father said he was happy to see "justice done."

 "I had come to see your trial system to see justice done and I leave satisfied that you have not let my son down," Daniel Urbas told the court. "I had come to see remorse, to hear some form of apology, and I leave without anything."

Prosecutors said during the trial that Magnotta emailed his murderous plan to a British journalist six months before the murder.

"Next time you hear from me it will be in a movie I am producing, that will have some humans in it," Magnotta wrote to Alex West near the end of an email sent in December 2011.

Later in that message, Magnotta wrote: "Once you kill, and taste blood, its impossible to stop. The urge is just too strong not to continue."

Magnotta's lawyer unsuccessfully argued that the defendant could not tell right from wrong at the time of the slaying.

The grisly details of the case shocked the country ever since a package containing a severed foot was found at Canada's ruling Conservative Party in May 2012. On the same day, a hand was discovered at a postal facility.

In addition, Lin's torso was discovered in a suitcase in the garbage outside Magnotta's apartment building in Montreal. One week later, a missing foot and hand were found mailed to a pair of schools in Vancouver.

In addition, a video surfaced on the Internet that prosecutors claim shows Magnotta stabbing and having intercourse with the dismembered corpse.

Magnotta eventually was found and arrested in Berlin following a massive manhunt.

Lin was studying at Concordia University and worked at a convenience store clerk in Montreal at the time of his death.
