Bermuda Follows Puerto Rico in Criminalizing Gay Discrimination

In Bermuda, Pressure from their colonial parents are making this  caribbean Island  more civilized. First in Puerto Rico which is a Territory of the united States  which approved an anti discrimination bill which was quickly signed by the governor and made into law.

Now We have Bermuda following suit. Bermuda had been warned to get in step with the EU which is made tremendous strides  in anti discrimination against gays. France has already installed gay marriage and England still arguing with itself  and their church already for more than a year. However it is expected to follow suit. The UK was one of the first Europeans countries to have Civil Unions which means absolutely nothing, since it only gives a pad in the back to gay couples and it allows them to use the name “Civil Union”  which is like  letting them sit in a limousine with no engine to take wedding photos.

NJ found this out. Ordered by the state supreme court upon ruling that gays were being discriminated in marriage and other rights. They quickly put in place Civil Unions which again did not mean much. Even a review of the court established that. The governor of that state Gov.Christie trying to play a game with the gay community said he would not sign a bill which by the way was passed by the law makers for gay marriage but  Christie Veto promising that he would allow a referendum from the voters on this issue. He is expected to run for president and running on his party ignorant stance that opposing gay marriage is good politics and good for the nation.

The problem with that is that the voters in NJ are becoming more gay friendly and a referendum might as well be passed which was not the case when he veto the bill.

Bermuda along with Puerto Rico have awful  violent records on homophobia. Many LGTB men have lost their lives in gay bashing in both Islands.
An anti discrimination bill does not do much but at least is a right step towards equality for their citizens.

Legislators in Bermuda also prohibited age discrimination in all sectors except at work, a move that many observers criticized.
The Royal Gazette newspaper said in a story Saturday that the bill was approved after nine hours of debate.
