Beautiful Jonathan Groff, Will Start at Glee’s Jesse St.James
Jonathan Groff, known to some as a Tony-nominated Broadway star and to others as Glee’sdeliciously complex Jesse St James, is continuing his television career as he picks up a leading role in the pilot of a new HBO comedy.
The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Groff will star as Patrick in the pilot of an as-yet-untitled comedy series written by Michael Lannan and produced by Sarah Condon. The series will focus on a group of friends living in San Francisco, who “grapple with all the options in contemporary life and the complexities of the modern gay experience.” Groff’s character, Patrick, is described as “a gay man with a successful career as a video-game developer who is less successful in his personal life.”
Groff most recently appeared as a regular alongside Kelsey Grammar in Boss, the recently-cancelled Starz political drama, and in season 3 of Glee alongside real-life best friend Lea Michele. Groff and Michele originated the lead roles in the Tony-winning musical Spring Awakening, prior to being cast on Glee. His upcoming projects include C.O.G., an adaptation of a David Sedaris story, and voicing the lead male role in Disney’s next animated feature,Frozen - Honestly, it’s about time he played a “fairytale prince,” though, excitingly, Frozen’sKristoff looks to be more Flynn Rider than Prince Eric.
