First Ever Pill To PREVENT HIV

This photo provided by Gilead Sciences shows Truvada. (AP Photo/Gilead Sciences)
The first drug shown to prevent HIV infection won the endorsement of a panel of federal advisers Thursday, clearing the way for a landmark approval in the 30-year fight against the virus that causes AIDS.
In a series of votes, a Food and Drug Administration advisory panel recommended approval of the daily pill Truvada for healthy people who are at high risk of contracting HIV, including gay and bisexual men and heterosexual couples with one HIV-positive partner.
The FDA is not required to follow the panel's advice, though it usually does. A final decision is expected by June 15.
Gilead Sciences Inc., based in Foster City, Calif., has marketed Truvada since 2004 as a treatment for people who are infected with the virus. The medication is a combination of two older HIV drugs, Emtriva and Viread. Doctors usually prescribe it as part of a drug cocktail to repress the virus.
While panelists ultimately backed Truvada for prevention, Thursday's 12-hour meeting highlighted a number of concerns created by the first drug to prevent HIV. In particular, the panel debated whether Truvada might lead to reduced use of condoms, the most reliable defense against HIV. The experts also questioned the drug's effectiveness in women, who have shown much lower rates of protection in studies.
Panelists struggled to outline steps that would ensure patients take the pill every day. In clinical trials, patients who didn't take their medication diligently were not protected, and patients in the real world are even more likely to forget than those in studies.
"The trouble is adherence, but I don't think it's our charge to judge whether people will take the medicine," said Dr. Tom Giordano of Baylor College of Medicine, who voted in favor of the drug. "I think our charge is to judge whether it works when it's taken and whether the risks outweigh the benefits."
Panelists stressed that people should be tested to make sure they don't have HIV before starting therapy with Truvada. Patients who already have the virus and begin taking Truvada could develop a resistance to the drug, making their disease even more difficult to treat. The experts grappled with how to protect patients while avoiding hurdles that could discourage them from seeking treatment.
"If we put up too many hoops to jump through, there will be people who don't make it through those hoops," said Daniel Raymond, the panel's patient representative.
Truvada first made headlines in 2010, when government researchers showed it could prevent people from contracting HIV. A three-year study found that daily doses cut the risk of infection in healthy gay and bisexual men by 42 percent, when accompanied by condoms and counseling. Last year another study found that Truvada reduced infection by 75 percent in heterosexual couples in which one partner was infected with HIV and the other was not.
Because Truvada is on the market to manage HIV, some doctors already prescribe it as a preventive measure. FDA approval would allow Gilead Sciences to formally market its drug for that use.
But Truvada's groundbreaking preventive ability has exposed stark disagreements on prevention among those in the HIV community. While Truvada's supporters say the drug is an important new option, critics worry that the drug could give users a false sense of security, and encourage risky behavior.
During the meeting's public comment period, FDA panelists heard from more than two dozen doctors, nurses and patients who said patients would not take the drug as recommended — every day, in addition to using condoms.
"Truvada needs to be taken every day, 100 percent of the time, and my experience as a registered nurse tells me that won't happen," Karen Haughey told the panel. "In my eight years, not one patient that I've cared for has been 100 percent adherent."
Other speakers worried that wide scale use of Truvada would divert limited funding from more cost-effective options. Truvada sells for about $900 a month, or just under $11,000 per year. The AIDS Healthcare Foundation, which opposes approval of Truvada, estimates that 20 HIV-positive patients could be treated for the cost of treating one patient with preventive Truvada.
"Truvada for prevention will squeeze already-constrained health care resources that can be better spent on cheaper and more effective prevention therapies," the group states in a petition to the FDA.
The FDA is legally barred from considering cost when reviewing drugs. Medicare and Medicaid, the nation's largest health insurance plans, generally cover all drugs approved by the FDA and many large insurers take their cues for coverage from the government plans.
An estimated 1.2 million Americans have HIV, which develops into AIDS unless treated with antiviral drugs. AIDS causes the body's immune system to breakdown, leading to infections which are eventually fatal. Gay and bisexual men account for the majority of cases — nearly two-thirds.
The number of new HIV infections in the U.S. has held steady for 15 years at about 50,000 per year. But with no vaccine in sight and an estimated 240,000 HIV carriers unaware of their status, doctors and patients say new methods are needed to fight the spread of the virus.
Nick Literski, a federal worker in Seattle, has been taking Truvada for HIV prevention for more than a year. His partner is HIV-infected and his doctor prescribes the drug as a precautionary measure, even though it is not yet FDA-approved for that use. Literski pays a $40 monthly co-pay for the once-daily pill.
FDA approval of the drug for prevention would be "a huge step forward" in the fight against AIDS, he said in an interview Thursday. But he said rejection would be devastating, threatening gay relationships like his that involve one partner who is HIV infected and one who isn't.
"Many HIV-positive men end up ending their relationships with HIV-negative men out of fear of infecting their partner," Literski said, and he worried about that happening to him before he started using Truvada.

Bing Outs do Google With Facebook Side Bar

Microsoft's Bing is about to get a major overhaul, with a new sidebar that shows information from Facebook and other social networks.
The "new Bing," as Microsoft calls it, consists of three columns on the search results page. The far left column is the widest of the three, and lists traditional search links. In the middle, a Snapshot pane shows relevant information directly on the search page, such as restaurant reviews, maps, and hotel room rates. On the far right, a gray Sidebar shows social search results.
The Sidebar is the most interesting part of the makeover. Users can ask questions to their Facebook friends directly from the search page, and see a list of who might know about a given topic. From the Sidebar, users can add comments on Facebook and pin Bing searches to their posts.
The Sidebar also suggests "top experts and enthusiasts" with knowledge about a topic, based on their public postings on Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Quora, LinkedIn, Blogger and even Google+. On the bottom half the Sidebar, an activity feed shows posts from Facebook friends who've chosen to share with Bing.
The new Bing is clearly an assault on the way Google handles social search. With Google's Search Plus Your World, Google+ data gets prominent treatment in the main search column. Many Google searches now show an option for "personal results" at the top of the page, and other search results may be affected by the user's Google+ contacts.
In a blog post, Bing's Derrick Connell and Harry Shum make a not-so-subtle jab at Google's approach, though they don't mention the company by name. "Instead of cluttering your results with social updates, we're honoring the purity of the core Web results making it easier to focus on the links you need to get things done," they write.
It helps that Microsoft has access to Facebook. The two companies have a rich history—Microsoft wasan early investor in Facebook—resulting in several product partnerships through the years. Google, meanwhile, has ventured out on its own with Google+, but the network is not nearly as popular as Facebook. Google is trying to prop up its social network by integrating it with other products, but critics have slammed that approach, saying the company has lost focus on core search.

Third Man Comes Forward } Massage to Travolta Before Sex

New claims: Fabian Zanzi says John Travolta accosted back in 2009 while he was working on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship. He is the third man to come forward making sexual assault claims against the actor

The third man to accuse Travolta is Chilean Born Fabian Zanzi, who claims the actor accosted him back in 2009 while he was working on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship.
Mr Zanzi, the first of the three victims to be publicly named, was an employee on the liner at the time and was in charge of VIP guests.
He told South American news website ABC.es that Travolta approached him and offered him $12,000 to have sex with him.
"He said I had something on my neck. I thought it was a fuzz. As I approached, he took off his white coat and was naked. He hugged me and asked me to do a massage."
Reports suggest Mr Zanzi has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Travolta - although this has yet to be verified.
Travolta's second accuser is also a masseur and is seeking $1 million in damages.
Travolta's lawyer, Marty Singer has strenuously denied the two initial claims and is yet to comment on the latest allegations.
Yesterday Travolta's camp put forward photographic evidence which appeared to provide Travolta with an alibi with regard to claims by John Doe #1, who alleges he was assaulted by the actor on January 16 of this year at a Beverly Hills hotel in Los Angeles.
Travolta's lawyers, however, claim the actor was in New York City on that date - releasing a restaurant receipt from the Mr. Chow restaurant in NYC and two photographs of the actor as evidence.
It is claimed by TMZ.com that two photos show him first at 4.30pm and then again at 5.21pm, at a fitting for his upcoming movie Killing Season in the Big Apple.
In a new development today, the New York Daily News reports flight records prove Travolta landed in Westchester, New York, hours before sunrise on the day John Doe #1 claims the alleged sexual harassment took place in Los Angeles.
Whispers about John Travolta’s sexuality have plagued his movie career almost from the outset.
Sources say the actor's wife, Kelly Preston, is purposefully being kept under wraps while he fights the claims.
According to an inside source, the actress has been instructed to be silent and stay away from the public eye until further notice.
"It's a means of damage control and will protect her from any public scrutiny," the source said.
The couple, who married in 1991 and are devout Scientologists, have faced challenges before.
In 2009, they tragically lost their 16-year-old son, Jett. In November 2010, the Hollywood couple welcomed son Benjamin into the world, and at the time, the rumour mill ran rampant that the new addition to the family "saved" their relationship. The couple also have a 12-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu.
The couple was most recently spotted together last month, all-smiles and hand-in-hand at Barbra Streisand's 70th birthday party.

Against Me! Singer Tom Gabel Out as Transgender

In the upcoming issue ofRolling Stone magazine, Tom Gabel, lead singer of the band Against Me!, reveals that he is transgender.

Gabel has struggled with gender dysphoria for years, and has finally decided to begin the process of becoming a woman – something he's only told a few family and friends about before the Rolling Stone interview.
The United Kingdom's NHS website describes gender dysphoria as a condition where people believe they have been born as the wrong sex and wish to live as the opposite sex.
To begin the process of becoming a woman, Gabel will begin taking hormones and start electrolysis treatments to remove hair, according to Rolling Stone.
The magazine reported that this is the first major rock star to come out as transgender, as well as go through the process in the public eye.
Gabel understands the huge step he is taking by bringing this out so publicly.
"I'm going to have embarrassing moments, and that won't be fun. But that's part of what talking to you is about – is hoping people will understand, and hoping they'll be fairly kind," Gabel told Rolling Stone.
Once the singer becomes a woman, he will change his name to Laura Jane Grace.
The name may sound familiar to fans, since it is featured in the lyrics from the song "The Ocean," according toSpin .
"And if I could have chosen, I would have been born a woman / My mother once told me she would have named me Laura / I'd grow up to be strong and beautiful like her," Gabel sings.
Gabel also spoke about the support he was receiving from his wife.
"For me, the most terrifying thing about this was how she would accept the news. But she's been super-amazing and understanding," Gabel said. They plan on remaining married. Gabel and his wife also have a 2-year-old daughter, Spin reported.
The 31-year-old singer founded Against Me! in 1997 when he was just 17-years-old. Gabel is originally from St. Augustine, Fla., Billboard reported.
The complete interview with Gabel will appear in the upcoming issue of Rolling Stone out on May 11th.

Second Masseur Says Travolta Wanted Gay Sex

LA- A second anonymous male masseur has joined the federal complaint accusing actor John Travolta of sexual battery.
The original complaint filed Friday caused a media sensation over the charges against the 58-year-old "Grease" star who has battled rumors of being gay for years.
Attorney Okorie Okorocha amended the complaint Tuesday to include Joe Doe No.2, who claims Travolta hired him for an in-room massage in January.
The events alleged by John Doe No. 1 allegedly occurred in a bungalow close to the Beverly Hills Hotel on Jan. 16. The second masseur says he was attacked on Jan. 28, after being summoned by "Mr. White" - allegedly an alias for Travolta - to the Atlanta Hotel in Los Angeles.
Both men seek $2 million in damages for assault, sexual battery, emotional distress and civil rights violations.
The second masseur claims he arrived at Travolta's hotel room and found the actor with "a strange demeanor" and "bloodshot eyes."
Travolta allegedly disrobed and climbed onto a massage table. The masseur claims that Travolta told him to pay particular attention to his buttocks. He says that Travolta then humped the table, briefly fell asleep, then "woke up and demanded that his 'gluts' be done immediately."
"While he was massaging near defendant's buttocks area, defendant [Travolta] would open his legs and spread his butt cheeks open, and had an erection," the complaint states.
The masseur says Travolta "had big dense hands," and "kept spreading his butt cheeks," which "were very red and chapped" along with his rectum.
Travolta attempted to force the masseur to touch his scrotum, and "started to grab, rub, and caress" his thighs and buttocks, according to the complaint.
The actor then asked the masseur for an abdominal massage, but Travolta's "erection was in the way and he refused to have his penis covered," the lawsuit states.
The complaint says that Travolta then tried to grab between the masseur's legs and began masturbating, leading the masseur to take his exit.
Travolta "forcibly hugged him" before he left, and then visited the masseur's spa on a later date and asked for an en-suite appointment, according to the complaint.
     "He refused," the lawsuit says.
The first masseur had complained that Travolta repeatedly asked him to say "something nice" about the actor.
"Defendant's penis was fully erect, and was roughly 8 inches in length; and his pubic hair was wirey (sic) and unkempt," according to the complaint. "Sweat was pouring down defendant's neck, and he asked Doe Plaintiff No. 1 again to say something nice to him."
Neither the law firm nor Travolta's publicist immediately responded to emailed requests for comment.

As Obama Announces Gay Support Other World Leaders Might Do Same

MEXICO CITY — President Barack Obama's announcement Wednesday that he supports gay marriage boosted the hopes of gay rights groups around the world that other leaders will follow his example, though opponents denounced his switch as a shameless appeal for votes.

Several countries, including Canada, Spain and Argentina, allow same-sex marriage, but far more countries ban it and dozens even prohibit consensual same-sex relations. Gay-rights groups hope Obama's views will inspire more change.

"This is incredibly important, it's excellent news. The United States is a global leader on everything, and that includes gay rights," said Julio Moreira, president of the Rio de Janeiro-based Arco-Iris gay rights group. "This will force other nations like Brazil to move forward with more progressive policies."

Vatican and other religious officials didn't comment, but political leaders and others opposed to gay marriage excoriated Obama. In particular, politicians tied to Pentecostal and Catholic churches have spoken out strongly against same-sex marriage in Latin America.

"Barack Obama is an ethical man and a philosophically confused man," said Peruvian congresswoman Martha Chavez of the conservative Catholic Opus Dei movement. "He knows that marriage isn't an issue only of traditions or of religious beliefs. Marriage is a natural institution that supports the union of two people of different sexes because it has a procreative function."

In Australia, where three bills that would allow gay marriage have been introduced in Parliament, Prime Minister Julia Gillard said she won't be following Obama's lead. She has consistently opposed gay marriage, though many members of her Labor Party support it.

"I've made my mind up and my position on this is well known," Gillard told reporters in Canberra. "I think it just reinforces this as a matter that people form their own views on, a deeply personal question people will think about, work their way through it; obviously President Obama has and he's announced a decision."

Religion-based opposition is strong in Egypt's conservative Muslim-dominated society, which rejects same-sex relations. Laws prohibiting "debauchery" or "shameless public acts" have been used to imprison gay men in recent years.

"This is unacceptable, because it is against religion, traditions and against God," said engineer Shady Azer in Cairo. "God created Adam and Eve. He didn't create two Adams or two Eves."

Gay marriage in legal in several countries; most are in Europe but others include Canada and South Africa. Several U.S. states allow it, but voters in many other states, including North Carolina on Tuesday, have banned it with constitutional amendments.

In 2010, Argentina became Latin America's first country to approve gay marriage. Cesar Cigliutti, president of the Gay Community of Argentina group, said Obama was only catching up to the rest of the world.

"It seems to me that by taking this position Obama is aligning himself with the entire world, with these times we're living in, with the achievements of rights in other countries," Cigliutti said.

Brazil's Supreme Court approved civil unions last year, followed by several state courts upholding the conversion of civil unions into full marriages. The nation's top appeals court then upheld those marriages in October, setting national precedent, but Catholic and evangelical churches and religious politicians continue to block the approval of any legislation in Congress enshrining gay marriage.

Moreira, the Brazilian activist, noted that efforts by President Dilma Rousseff to promote anti-homophobia education in Brazilian schools were scuttled last year after it became clear religious legislators would block unrelated legislation in protest.

In France, outgoing President Nicolas Sarkozy opposes gay marriage — though recent polls suggest that a majority of French voters support it. President-elect Francois Hollande, who defeated Sarkozy in elections Sunday, made "the right to marry and adopt for all couples" part of his campaign platform, and has set legislative passage of a bill ensuring that right for no later than June of next year.

Spain adopted its gay marriage law when the country was ruled by the center-left Socialist Party, but the center-right Popular Party took control of the government late last year.

Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has said he would prefer civil unions instead of marriages, but his administration has made no move to change the current situation. His party does have an appeal of the gay marriage law pending before the country's Constitutional Court.

Jamaica's most prominent evangelical pastor and the island's political ombudsman, Bishop Herro Blair, said late Wednesday afternoon that he was just hearing about Obama's announcement and was still taking it in.

"For now, I can say that I cannot be mad at President Obama. We are in a society where people have choices. However, my belief runs contrary to his," Blair said in Kingston, the island's capital.

Though Obama's change of heart did not appear to change the battle lines in the debate, those on one side felt they had won a powerful ally.

"We're living in other times where acceptance is growing more and more," said restaurant owner Carlos Santiago in Mexico City's Pink Zone gay district. "It's impossible to hold back a wave, against something that is natural."

Anat Chen, a 20-year-old bartender in Jerusalem, said she expected more to come.

"Everyone should be allowed to marry whoever they want," she said. "It matters that Obama said it. Whatever happens in America, the rest of the world follows."

OBama Is The Man!! Now He Needs the Gays

This is the day The U.S. President Put his shoe where his mouth was.……but this will cost him.  It is up to the gay community and friends to support him and his party. No other President or political figure have done more for the gay community than President Obama.  Bringing down DADT, trying to back federal employee’s  with same sex spouses to having the Justice Dept Testify against DOMA.

I am so proud to see this moment. It will only be a moment if we don’t support The President. He “Needs" a Congress that backs him on that, otherwise it will not get to happen.  In order for Gay Marriage to be legal it needs the federal law that bans it to come down”DOMA". We got that law under Bush the “Uniter. " However{DADT}  under a gay friendly President; Bill Clinton under an anti gay Republican congress.  The Republican Congress now is more anti gay than the one Clinton had..  Imagine that…..but this President went about in a different way. He learned a lot the first year as President.

He learned that in Washington if you just talk, that’s what you are.. talk. You need action behind your words.   People need to fear you there and the only way for that to happen is to be afraid of how you going to hurt them.  But you can’t hurt anybody unless you have the backing of the electorate. He can say like Lyndon B.  Johnson would say:  "If you don’t vote my way I will personally go to your district and campaign against you".  That is how he became part of the Presidential ticket with a president that didn’t like him, John F. Kennedy.

I hope that wether we are conservatives, moderates or liberals, we stand behind this president.  Let’s make it about us as gay people.  If we can make the laws enacted against us come down,  then we burn the closet.  There would be no need to be in or out because one’s sexuality will be one’s to have not for others come in and interfere like if it was theirs. Let's leave sex for the people to have in privacy and lets leave at home, don’t bring it to work, church or Washington.

Like Martin Luther King said, Let the ‘character of the man “Defines" not the color of his skin’ I say that and respectfully ad,  let the character of the person define their humanity and not their skin color nor sex or sexuality, religion or not, politics or not.

The President Obama Endorses Same Sex…click to read

ps Under the first post of this text I mistakenly attributed “DOMA” to have been approved under Clinton, when it was Bush. This was corrected. Sorry for the readers and the ex Pres.

US President Obama Endorses Same Sex Marriage

This afternoon President Barack Obama endorsed the right of same-sex couples to marry.   A landmark pronouncement made in light of mounting pressure from the gay  community and friends.
Obama became the first U.S. president to back the right of gay and lesbian couples to marry, a reversal from views expressed during the 2008 campaign, when he said he opposed same-sex marriage but favored civil unions as an alternative.

Obama told ABC News that, after reflection, he had "concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married."   In making his announcement, Obama completes what he had described as an “evolution” in his views on this issue, hastened by growing fervor this week involving gay rights. The growing pressure was capped Tuesday by North Carolina voters’ approval of a constitutional amendment banning not only same-sex marriages, but civil unions for gay and lesbian couples, as well.

Obama’s shift not only speaks to a broad swath of the electorate, which has exhibited increasing acceptance of same-sex marriage in opinion polls, but also gay and lesbian voters who compose a core part of Obama’s base, and have been major fundraisers for his re-election.
  ABC News
President Barack Obama appears in an interview with ABC News on Wednesday, speaking in support of gay marriage. "It is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married," the president said.
Obama explained that he had hesitated in fully supporting same-sex marriage because he thought civil unions would be sufficient.
"I have to tell you that over the course of several years as I have talked to friends and family and neighbors when I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together, when I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage, at a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married," he told ABC.

Ca. Trying To Ban the Psychotherapy to Make People Straight

By HANNAH DREIER,AP
 and Adam for adamfoxie*

(Sacramento) California it’s been a first taking steps in the ladder of Gay Civil and human rights. Now a first-of-its-kind ban on a controversial form of psychotherapy aimed at making gay people straight could face a key vote Tuesday by a group of California lawmakers.
We don’t want to declare victory before the vote is taken. As we know California has taken big hits also. But I am(adamfoxie*) so glad to have someone there come out with the idea, even in an open society such as west coast that says enough!
As long as the people uncomfortable with us want to show that we can be cured of our sexuality, it goes back that even our national government thought so too. We have come a long way. We don’t go to the moon because we have already been there. If we decided to go back, we know how.
In this age there is no room for an extremism that want to change people because of their sexuality. It is really important that we get through this mass of deceit that not only gives them a platform to attack us, but it confuses and hurts for 'life' the people both young and old that are struggling them selves with this issue in their lifes’.
Supporters say the legislation, which is before its final committee, is necessary because such treatments are ineffective and harmful.
"This therapy can be dangerous," said the bill's author Sen. Ted Lieu. He added the treatments can "cause extreme depression and guilt" that sometimes leads to suicide.
Conservative religious groups emphatically reject that view of sexual orientation therapy and say the California bill would interfere with parents' rights to seek appropriate psychological care for their children.
"While this is a direct assault on everyone's freedom it is also a not so subtle attack on religious liberty," the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality said in a statement.
The debate comes as gay rights issues take the spotlight around the nation.
Over the weekend, Vice President Joe Biden said he is "absolutely comfortable" with same-sex couples getting the same rights as heterosexual couples.
In North Carolina on Tuesday, voters are expected to decide whether to make it the 29th state to pass a constitutional amendment defining marriage as solely between a man and a woman.
And in Colorado, a measure to extend civil union protections to gay couples faces a looming deadline in the state Legislature.
The California bill would prohibit so-called reparative therapy for minors and force adults who chose to undergo the treatment to sign a release form that states that the counseling is ineffective and possibly dangerous.
AB1172, sponsored by Equality California, was expected to go to its final committee hearing Tuesday afternoon and will go to the full Senate if approved.
Lieu says attempts to pathologize and change people's sexual orientation should be treated akin to smoking and drinking: harmful activities that adults can choose to participate in, but children cannot.
"We let adults do all sorts of stupid and risky things, but we ban dangerous things for young people," Lieu said in a telephone interview.
He was inspired to take up the issue by a cable news documentary featuring people whose parents had attempted to change their sexual orientation. The doctor featured in the show "was evil," he said.
Interest in the religion-based therapy appears to have surged in recent years.
Exodus International, the world's largest Christian referral network dealing with homosexuality, now refers people to 260 groups across the country, up from about 100 a decade ago. The organization has 35 ministries and churches scattered around California, from the Central Valley to the U.S.-Mexico border.
Mainstream mental health organizations say people shouldn't be seeking out groups like Exodus at all.
The American Psychological Association said in 2009 that mental health professionals should not tell gay clients they can become straight through therapy.
The association cited research suggesting that efforts to produce the change could lead to depression and suicidal tendencies, and stated that no solid evidence exists that such change is possible.
The American Counseling Association and American Psychiatric Association have also disavowed the therapy. And the psychiatric association removed homosexuality from its list of mental disorders nearly 30 years ago.
Conversion therapy penetrated the national consciousness last year when former Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann was questioned over whether the Christian counseling business of her husband provided therapies that attempted to change gays and lesbians.
Last month, psychiatrist Bob Spitzer retracted his widely-cited 2001 study that found that "highly motivated" people could change their sexual orientation, and apologized to the gay community.
The measure would likely face legal challenges from opponents who say it is unconstitutional.
Lieu says he addressed free speech issues by excluding clergy from the legislation.
Gay rights advocates say such a ban would constitute a major milestone, and could lead to similar legislation across the country.

John Travolta } I did not have inappropriate relations with that Man

John Travolta would like to make it perfectly clear: He did not have inappropriate relations with that massage therapist.
"Pulp Fiction" star Travolta denies claims made in a lawsuit filed against him last Friday by a man who claims that the actor touched his penis and scrotum while giving a massage to Travolta.

"This lawsuit is a complete fiction and fabrication," a statement from the actor's publicist says. "None of the events claimed in the suit ever occurred."
The statement adds that Travolta was on the other side of the country when the alleged violation occurred, and that the actor completely intends to exact legal vengeance after getting the suit against him tossed.
"On the date when plaintiff claims John met him, John was not in California and it can be proved that he was on the East Coast," the statement -- which calls the suit a "baseless lie" -- reads. "John intends to get this case thrown out and then he will sue the attorney and Plaintiff for malicious prosecution."
The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in California Friday, claims that Travolta molested the plaintiff -- who filed the suit anonymously -- while receiving a massage at a bungalow at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Jan. 12.
According to the suit, the plaintiff was contacted through a web site ad, after which Travolta picked him up in his Lexus SUV personally and brought him to the bungalow.
And then things got really weird.

Best Buy Associate Outs Customer

Why human beings enjoy hurting other human beings? To make this subject more simple lets stay superficial;  Leaving war aside and child custody, divorce.  Let stay with the simple ones. Like this particular case in which the perp had nothing to gain, nothing but to make someones life who was already may be confused making it more confused.

This is not the case of setting a cam, a computer with monitor and getting a crowd of fellow students  to watch being outed while he was intimate with his boy friend. By the way in that case in which I have reported so much about the perp(don’t want to mention his name) hanging by scrotum for ever is not enough.  so why do we do it?If you know, let me know.  adamfoxie*

In this outing caper a man was caught in a frustrating situation after he went to a Best Buy store to exchange his cell phone for a new one.

Rich Dewberry was having trouble with his cell phone and took it to Best Buy for repairs. After employees told him that they could not fix the problem, they issued him a new phone and service plan.

Things were supposed to go on as usual, but when he started receiving phone calls from family and friends who seemed to be concerned about him, he became suspicious.

A message appeared on his Facebook account that simply stated, "I am gay. I'm coming out."

Dewberry had not checked or updated his status, so he was unaware that his family and friends were able to see this post which was written on his wall.

He knew something was not right when he started getting numerous calls.

"Calls started coming in immediately to my house phone … Friends, ex-spouses, they were all calling," Dewberry told KMGH.

After a quick look at his Facebook page, he discovered the post came shortly after he had left the Best Buy store. The next day, he contacted that manager of the store to file a complaint.

After the incident, Dewberry received word from the store manager that the employee responsible had been identified and then terminated.

Best Buy released a statement after the resolution of the incident which explained that employees are aware of how they should treat customer's private information.

"Each year, every employee of Best Buy is asked to review and sign our Code of Ethics, which includes details on how they are expected to handle customer information," stated the electronics giant.

Dewberry insists that his privacy was violated and that it has caused him a great deal of mental anguish due to the constant explanations that he has had to give telling people he is not gay.

"Just having to explain it to certain people I come in contact with, I feel like I shouldn't have to do that," he said.

Experts recommend anytime you get a new phone you should do a hard reset of the device to erase the memory. Usually that option is found in the settings menu.
