Time Lapsed Video of Hurricane Sandy Destroying Parts of NYC

There’s something a bit bizarre about seeing such a violent, destructive force condensed into such a visually compelling two-minute clip.
This time-lapse video, shot from a waterfront vantage point in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, captures Hurricane Sandy slamming into the nation’s largest city. The video, which spans multiple days, from Oct. 29 to 30, culminates in the darkness that spread across lower Manhattan as large swaths of the borough lost power after a power substation was flooded and subsequently caught fire. For more than 650,000 in lower Manhattan, the lights have been out since the storm hit Monday.
