The Gay Revolution is Winning , Are You?

Regardless of when you were born you most agree with me that things have change for a community that has been marginalized, abused, bully and then lock up in a dark closet so no body would see us and we would not see each other. We through history that we have been around since the beginnings of time. We were not born first, but we were born as soon as women starting having kids.
In a society back on our infancy on this planet,  the other side knew we were different not because we wore pumps and lipstick.  They didn’t have that and besides most gay don’t wear pumps and lipstick,I am just making an example that the men and women most’ve looked like everybody else. Where the different was, not in not wanting to have kids, but the attachment to other males. That was an easy thing to do since women, unless royalty, were treated very badly through the centuries. Men have always stuck together, men have always had buddies, just like women also did. So having close relationships between the sexes was not a big thing.

The problem arose when men try to top other men. They thought it was natural to them but the other did not think so. Wether the women were or not, no body cared as long as they could have babies. Kids were important because  besides taking care of their parents when they got old, they also could help on a day to day survival. In some cultures which they still do, would sell and trade the kids, the girls that is. The boys were too important and the boy was the one that would continue their fathers' heritage.

This century started out a little better.  Gays knew what they were but also thought they had to stay quiet. Almost every gay thought that he was all alone in the world.  That those feelings were fantasy and dangerous if told to anyone. That was the closet.  Men did find men like them but usually married and it was just for a sexual relief but then back to their lives. This rule applied to everyone, even if they were presidents or royalty. The could not let the world know how they really were because the world did not turn that way.

The age of information, computers and the internet made the world smaller and some closets just cracked open. Gays started to find out they were not alone. I remember how amazed I was to find bars like the RamRod,The Eagle, The Gilded grape, Crisco Disco, Galaxie 21, etc., etc. But it was not until I marched my first gay pride. It was a beautiful sunday and the march went from Greenwich and Hudson upwards fifth avenue to Central Park .  I walked by 34 street, the guys marching along with me took off the shirts, so I did too. I knew I was going to passed by work(34st and 5th ave).  But could not help myself. The joy I felt to look down and see a non ending parade of man and women.  It was a man non-ending spread.  Wao!! That inspired me in me a wish to come out which I did a couple years latter.

It was so liberating to see so many of us.  Right away all doubts, wether social or religious went down. There were too many of us to be a mistake or freak of nature.  We were nature. We were part of this world.

Now this Revolution of men and women coming out to be what they are will a non ending revolution. Just like democracy is. You need to fight for it all the time or you risk loosing it. The good thing is that now we have almost won the revolution, what comes next is to have institutions that are ours or that back us up.  As so many millions that we are, when you compare us to straights we still a minority. That’s the main reason that we need they support and understanding. We need to present our case not shove it into people’s life’s.  We can do that easily because each of us is a school of learning, like no other school. The gay experience is something that you have to be gay to really know what it is.  It transcends marriage, sex, family, friends. We have been made with the understanding of a mother and the strength of a father. We are both. Some of us are as straight and man looking as the father, others have taking mama’s traits. But we are both gay.  In there there is the bisexuals which got equal quantities of both traits and is happy to go from one Rose bush to an apple tree. That is ok with me, as long as they see themselves in the same situation that we are.  Because are wins is their wins.

As we approach victories which will culminate our revolution into success we most remember that the fight never ends. We get a victory on the court of appeals and then the other side appeals to the Supreme court.  That is the reason that we need to keep a government that will protect us in the Supreme court by nominating and being confirm by a friendly congress. Some of our biggest victories or defeats in the future will come from the Supreme court. We need to keep a gay friendly President.  Those so called gay groups are the traitors, those are the ones that got the traits of the father that beat the mother or the mother that beat the child. Twisted, can not comprehend a simple truth. It’s nice to hate this and that in politics, but when it comes to anti gay candidates on either party we need to circle the wagons together. It’s easy to understand were those cowards that are supposed to be gay and vote against us. Like in any family you have the son or daughter that turns out to be a Luka, the one that ate his boyfriend.

The Gay Revolution is coming to it’s biggest victory or defeat. That is the case here. If we loose, we need to go back to the ground roots and eliminate all of those that are against us.  The anti gay Supremes wont live for ever, but our revolution will. We in our spirit of who we are will live for ever.
I have been close to death a few times, when you are close to death it changes you. One of the things is you loose fear of death because you stared at it with you eyes and found out is not a fearsome as many belief.
So, in many cases when things have gone real bad for me I wish I had not survived, that I would be at peace. But then I remember what exciting times these are, times that I thought I would never see. I hope the generation growing now do not take our victories for granted. I wish they will get educated on who they are and what to do to keep their freedom of spirit.
