This mayor who is like most politicians full of contradictions.  He is embattled in a fight with a city council because he does not like restaurants to sell extra large sugar drinks, like coke, pepsi, etc. Unless is sugar free.  People are turning their heads on this one.  Even health experts. But now he says he disagrees with the mayors of Boston, Chicago and San Francisco because they oppose an openly homophobic company like Chick Fil-a opening outlets there.  They don’t want that kind of business there.   Below is the quotes from CBS NY with the mayors comments.  adamfoxie*

Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he strongly disagrees with the mayors of Boston, Chicago and San Francisco over Chick-fil-A’s position on gay marriage.

The fast food restaurant’s opposition to gay marriage has touched a national furor. Gay rights groups have called for a boycott and the three mayors have said Chick-fil-A was not welcome in their cities.
Bloomberg called the three “good mayors” but disagrees with them. He supports same-sex marriage, but says the restaurant flap is none of “the government’s business.”
“Where government really is too big is when government starts to trample on people’s freedoms,” Bloomberg said during his weekly radio appearance on WOR Radio. “Trampling on the freedom to marry whoever you want is exactly the same as trampling on your freedom to open a store.”
He said it would be “inappropriate” to consider political or religious beliefs when making such decisions.
“You can’t have a test for what the owner’s personal views are before you decide to give a permit to do something in the city,” he said.
New York City currently has one Chick-fil-A restaurant. Bloomberg indicated the company would have to jump through the standard bureaucratic hoops if it wanted to open another.
