The Governor’s tango of not knocking  gays but at the same time with a quick swift of the pen he vetoes gay marriage;  Which for the first time it passed both houses of the legislature.
This makes him very popular with the GOP Right and he is banking that the National economy doesn’t recover and thus he would have a shot on the next elections' of running for president.
The only problem with that tango is that he is too un-coordinated and too unfamiliar with this type of dance to have this come his way.  What could happen is that he has pissed the moderates and gays of NJ that believe in equality and they could just vote him out of office. If that happens the music for his dance comes to a stop. adamfoxie*
The following post comes from Steve Kornacki for Salon.

There are two elections on the horizon that Chris Christie has a particular interest in. The first is in New Jersey next year, when he’ll seek a second term as governor. The second is in 2016, when he’ll make a logical presidential candidate — if he wins reelection in ’13 and if the Republican nomination is open. (For now, at least, let’s leave aside the idea that Christie might serve as his party’s vice presidential candidate this year.)

This makes the debate over gay marriage in the Garden State, where the Democratic-controlled Senate approved marriage equality legislation yesterday, a problem for him.
