Ellen Degeneres Over 1 Million Fans FB Well Over What I Mill Moms Have

After attacks from a conservative group called One Million Moms called for department store J.C. Penney to fire comedian Ellen DeGeneres as their spokeswoman because of her sexual orientation, fans, celebrities and even other conservatives rushed to the comedian and J.C. Penney's defense.
The anti-gay group has launched a campaign to boycott J.C. Penney stores because they say DeGeneres is not a representation of traditional families that typically shop at the department store. Time reported that soon after DeGeneres addressed the attacks on her talk show, her supporters fired back with their own pro-Ellen campaign.
A new Facebook page with the title "1 Million People who Support Ellen for J.C. Penney" has generated a huge amount of support for the store and its new spokeswoman. The page has only been active for about two days, and already has gained more supporters than the One Million Moms group on Facebook.
When the attacks were first made, DeGeneres joked on her show, "Not that there's anyone counting, but for a group that calls themselves the million moms, they only have 40,000 members on their page." Entertainment Weekly repotted that the group already has 42,634 "likes" and counting, and another pro-Ellen, pro-J.C. Penney group called 1 Million people who support Ellen for J.C. Penney already has 80,244 "likes" and climbing. Other smaller supportive groups around Facebook are also popping up as well.
In addition to the fan support, gay activists groups are also launching support efforts. The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Discrimination launched "Stand Up for Ellen," a web petition to keep DeGeneres as J.C. Penney's spokeswoman and support the company for their decision to support her. The petition already has 25,000 signatures, also growing.
