Daniel Radcliffe Says Gay Marriage is EQUALITY

Daniel Radcliffe

Daniel Radcliffe has always been an advocate for gay teens. The "Woman in Black" actor is once again addressing the issue in a new interview, noting that the continued rash of teen suicides is "terrifying."

"It's not surprising when you consider how accessible a bullying victim is now," he tells British gay lifestyle magazine Attitude, according to Just Jared. "You used to be able to escape at the end of a day; now you can be hunted by mobile phone, Facebook, Twitter. It's terrifying."
In addition to speaking out about gay rights numerous times in interviews, Radcliffe also works with the Trevor Project (a nonprofit organization that offers support to sexual minority youth) and has this advice for people who only see sexuality as gay or straight: "Don't define as straight or gay, define yourself as people and help another person if they're in trouble."
That also means that he's stoutly pro-gay marriage and has some good reasons for why he believes it should become legal. "The ultimate reason gay marriage should be legalized everywhere is because, as a kid, you look to your mum and dad and they're married; then you look at the gay couple who've been together for the same amount of time, but because they can't get married their relationship doesn't seem the same," he said. "Yes, gay marriage is about symbolically blessing a relationship, but the larger issue is about transmitting a fundamental message about equality. Gay people should have equality in law everywhere."
