Boston’s Bad Boy } Mark Walhberg

by

Endowed with talent, acting chops and a hot bod that will forever be frozen in the '90s pop culture canon, Mark Wahlberg is sex-a-licious no matter what professional role he takes — from playing a '70s porn star in Boogie Nights, portraying a dirty detective in The Departed or taking the reins as a Hollywood producer, bringing us hit shows like Entourage (the show was based on his own group of guy friends!). Now, as a reformed criminal who rejoins the smuggling game in Contraband, in theaters now, Mark shows us his best action star yet. We'll kick back and dream about him defending our honor, whether at a red carpet event or on a gritty city street.Tough, savvy and good-looking to boot, we fantasize about having Mark Wahlberg on our arm — a scrappy protector with wicked street smarts.
Mark Wahlberg

Mark Wahlberg

Born: June 5, 1971
Hometown: Boston, Massachusetts
Height: 5'8"

We'll never forget how he looked in that underwear commercial

Okay, technically he's not rapper Marky Mark anymore, nor is he part of the Funky Bunch. But his legendary sexy Calvin Klein underwear ads are still burned into our brains because...well, do we really need to explain?
Looking back, Mark Wahlberg was almost The Situation-esque with his Boston-boy bravado, but, well, he was smokin'. Sample dialogue from his legendary Calvin Klein TV commercial (featuring a blonde in white panties and sagging jeans orbiting around him): "These are the '90s, man, they just fit good and they hold me snug."
Snug indeed! And we thank you for that, Calvin Klein.

Mark Wahlberg in Boogie Nights
What is it with Mark and what he has to offer below the belt? 1997'sBoogie Nights was a smash, with Mark playing Dirk Diggler, a newbie to the 1970s porn scene who struggles with his place in the world and substance abuse (among other things). After that, Wahlberg played equally conflicted characters, including his latest role inContraband as a former criminal who's forced to leave his wife (played by Kate Beckinsdale) and children and return to the tangled world of international smuggling. It's no surprise that Mark Wahlberg has drawn from his own struggles with drugs, gangs and violence to bring his roles to life — especially this most recent one.
"I could certainly identify with it, because in my own life. I’ve had a pretty troubled past," he told the New York Daily News about Contraband. "And you hope, too, that these are themes that people can identify with — whether it be on an emotional level or a fighting level."
We think the audience will.

He's grown up to be a caring father and family man

Mark Wahlberg and daughter
Now a mature dad of four children, including two girls, Mark says having a family has changed him in the best way possible — and given him a newfound respect for women.
"And I tell you, having girls has made me a much better man," hetold the Star-Ledger. "I have friends who are fathers, but they only have boys, and they have the same attitude toward women they always had, you know? And I don’t play that. . . . My girls, you mess with them? I will bury you underground."
You heard him, future suitors!

Mark Wahlberg's relationship status

Mark Wahlberg and wife Rhea Durham
Fun trivia: Back in his hot '90s days, Mark dated Punky Brewster's Soleil Moon Frye. But in 2001, he began dating fashion model Rhea Durham, 33, and the pair married in 2009. They have four children: two girls and two boys. And, cute alert!: Out of respect for his wife, he tries to keep his movie sex scenes at a minimum: "If it has anything to do with me kissing somebody, my wife's not gonna like it so I'll fight to get it cut out," he told WENN. "Those are the more important issues. I usually try to choose my battles wisely."
Awww — we love that kind of consideration for a partner! Way to treat a lady, Mark!

Sometimes We Need More Than Love

I just ended a two-year affair. It wasn’t a relationship in the sense of being partners or lovers, it was different from that, but it had endured, and it was good most of the time. He already has a lover, and we were clear about the limits on what we did.

And even though we weren’t “in love” we did love each other in our own way. You can’t really keep on hooking up for that amount of time without caring for the other guy.
But in the end I decided that it just wasn’t good for me. It took up a lot of my emotional energy, yet in the cold hard light of day, I could see that it was time to move on. He was surprised and wounded at the rupture, and so was his partner but obviously to a lesser degree. Yes, it hurt , but I know I made the right call.
And it made me think about the huge weight we tend to put on love these days, our expectations that love is the answer to everything, that love makes it all ok. That’s asking love to carry a lot, and is a relatively new way of thinking.
In the past relationships were formed more around ideas of how to build a stable family, how to work the farm together, keep the community going, and were often set up by families – the idea that we should fall in love first, then settle down, is a very new one.
Of course, for gays, it’s different. We get to chart our own way through the world, as we don’t have thousands of years of patterns of same-sex relationships to look back on and model ourselves on. We have the chance to form new ways of relating. I know men who happily manage living as a threesome. I know others who have different networks of lovers, more part of a group than a couple. And I know lots of couples who will never marry, they have been together decades and see no need for it.
But of course, because of the way we’re raised, being a couple is seen as the gold standard, and the appeal of the romantic “Love is forever and once” model is strong. It also explains the rise in popularity of gay marriage, something that simply wasn’t even on the horizon 30 years ago when Gay Lib was at its most active. Then settling into a couple was almost seen as a bit strange, a bit limiting, blindly following straights, pretending to be like them in a sad little parody of suburban life, when gay men could be out there fucking and loving in all sorts of new ways – or so the theory went.
I know a lot of guys my age and older who are dismissive of gay marriage, see it as conformist, giving in, simply apeing the straights. But for many young guys it’s obviously much more important, and I understand and respect that. It is a lovely thing to have your relationship celebrated by the most important people in your life, whatever the gender mix of the couple. It’s important to have legal recognition as well. And standing up in front of everyone you care about and committing yourself to another person is a big thing.
But love – that magic word – we ask so much of it. We had both told the other we loved each other, in our own way, we both cared for and liked each other. But in the end, I could tell it wasn’t enough.
I know I will love again, and everytime it’s different. But as I age, I see more and more, love alone isn’t enough.

Straight Guys claim they'd go gay for Thierry Henry

Thierry Henry 2008Peter Lloyd

A match-winning goal by Arsenal striker Thierry Henry caused straight football fans to claim they'd 'go gay' in adoration, this week.
The tongue-in-cheek declarations were announced via micro-blogging site Twitter.
It comes after Leeds were beaten 1-0 by in Monday night's FA Cup third-round tie at Emirates Stadium.
Henry, for whom the game marked a comeback, scored the only game in the 90-minute match.
Delighting fans, several took to the social networking site to declare their love for the sportsman.
"Thierry Henry is a man I would turn gay for!" said one. "Im gay for Thiery henry," [sic] wrote another.
"I am gay for him all over again," added a third fan.
Similar comments surfaced online for an hour after the match finished, marking celebrations across the capital.
Writing for The Guardian, acclaimed journalist Paul Flynn wrote that it was a dynamic moment in football's evolution into gay acceptance.

"For an hour after the whistle blew on Tuesday it seemed like a corner of north London had been whipped up into enough of a euphoric rush to embrace the last demon of its parent association, the FA.
"The fans had inadvertently flipped the association's latent, exclusive attitude toward homosexuality on its head."
Thirty-four year-old Henry, who is on temporary loan from the New York Red Bulls, will spend the next six-and-a-half weeks with Arsenal.

You Keep Meeting The Wrong Man? } This is why

subway love romance

Do you keep meeting disappointing men? The ones who seem so promising at first, but then end up never calling you, or worse — promising you the world and then breaking your heart? Perhaps you’re attracting the wrong guys because you’re not asking for what you want. Or maybe you have a thing for “bad boys” — you think you can tame ‘em (hint: This almost never works). Could it be a stroke of bad luck? Well, a recent Chemistry.com poll says you may just be living in the wrong city.
Just in time for today’s launch of their new blog, Chemistry.com reveals the nation’s Top Ten Cities to Find a Sensitive Man. Using their data based on the personality types of American singles, they pinpointed the cities with the highest concentrations of softies — uh, we mean, gallant gentlemen. We weren’t sure what to do with these findings, as they seemed a bit random. Staten Island? Living in New York, we beg to differ on this one (sorry, Situation).

Men’s Health Mag and ESPN Both Selected This Young Jock

Lets get you  to the beginning of the week if not healthy at least looking at a 22 yr old  who is very healthy

Even though the NFL Playoffs are taking place right now, I wanted to highlight a non-football-rugby-soccer athlete to keep the mixture of sports coverage interesting. Due to the rugged and muscular nature of those guys, they tend to be a little too predictable.
This week, I’ve chosen to highlight NBC basketball player, Blake Griffin. I’m surprised that I haven’t highlighted the power forward in a Sports Stud feature to date, considering he was featured in ESPN’s recent issue of “Body’s We Want“. The 22-year-old plays for the Los Angeles Clippers and is originally from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He offically made his NBA debut in 2011, was selected as an All-Star, won the 2011 NBA Slam Dunk Contest and was named the NBA Rookie of the Year. Way to start off with a bang! To add to that, Sports Illustrated also ranked him as one of the NBA’s 15 Greatest Rookies of All Time.
Now, I leave you with some sexy shirtless pictures that certainly don’t disappoint. You’ll see why he was selected for ESPN’s issue, the cover of the current issue of Men’s Health magazine, and how he brings the heat when he hits the beach.
Woof! Look at hose abs! Jealous of whoever got to rub him down with sunscreen.
Here’s the sexy ESPN feature he did. Shirts vs. skins? He obviously chose skins.
“How did I get in such amazing shape?!” he thought to himself.
Looking handsome clothed and off the court as well.
A slam dunk in those trunks for sure!
I think he earned that cover with that body, don’t you?
Showing us how it’s done.
This is definitely my favorite shot of him. I love when the shorts are loose enough to have that teasing effect in the rear.

Justin Bieber } A Hair Come Back

The sweet voice, the teen swagger and the backing of a certain Usher Raymond all contributed to making Justin Bieber a star three years ago. But it was THAT hair that arguably made him a superstar.
The singer, now 17, could make millions of hearts melts with just one flick of his eyebrow-skimming mane.
And while most thought that his headline-making chop in early 2011 marked a new, grown-up phase in the Baby singer's style, it seems Justin missed his mop.
It's back: Justin Bieber's hair at the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas last week looked remarkably like his famous old hairstyle

Appearing at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week, Bieber's lengthy locks looked back to their original style.

The only difference between Justin's current 'do and that circa 2010 was that the famous side-part has switched sides.
Bieber has been growing his hair out in recent weeks after almost a year of a shorter, spikier style.
Deja vu: The singer's side-swept locks are what made him famous at the start of his career

Justin broke hearts when he made the decision to get rid of his long locks in February last year.
The unpopular choice initially cost him 80,000 followers (hardly a dent in his 16.4million) on Twitter.
But some good came of it, with thousands raised for charity thanks to an eBay auction of some of the snipped locks.

When grilled on his dramatic decision at the time, he explained: 'I just wanted to, that’s all, not really a big reason; I just woke up and said, "I don’t want this any more", so I just cut it.’
Over the last year, he has tried out a number of styles, from a short Tintin-style flick, to a tousled 'do.
At the Consumer Electronics Show last week, Bieber appeared with TOSY Robotics, helping them to unveil a new entertainment robot on this afternoon.
Missing the flick? The 17-year-old appeared to be growing out his old hair during a Christmas performance in Washington

(NEWSER  By Evann Gastaldo– While making a joke about "Jodie Foster's beaver" in his Golden Globes monologue, host Ricky Gervais noted that he hadn't seen it himself—and that he had "spoken to a lot of guys here, they haven't seen it either. That doesn't mean it's not any good." TMZwonders whether Gervais was implying Foster is a lesbian—a longstanding Hollywood rumor the actress has not spoken about publicly. Foster didn't appear upset when the camera turned to her, TMZ notes; in fact, she gave Gervais'Beaver joke a double thumbs-up.

Twilight Might Continue After Breaking Dawn

Despite the vampire series coming to an end, Lionsgate film bosses have hinted that the Twilight Saga could continue after Breaking Dawn Part 2.
Stephenie Mayer’s  books may have ended, but Lionsgate boss Jon Feitheimer has said that more sequels could be on the way in the future.
Lionsgate bought out Summitt Pictures who have distributed the Twilight films, and as the films have grossed so much money, with the finale expected to bring in around $700 million, it was only a matter of time before someone suggested a continuation of the series.
Talking in the LA Times, Feitheimer said, "It's an amazing franchise that they have done a great job of maintaining with absolutely no deterioration. So the simple answer is, 'Boy I hope so'."
He added that a possible move to TV could also be on the cards in the future. Well of course it will be.

Being a Gay Republican is Being Pro Romney & Self Mutilation

off the top of my head i can think of over four

While being an openly gay Republican seems about as sane as carrying a nail-studded two-by-four around so you can mutilate yourself on the half-hour, the “Log Cabin Republicans” continue to be an actual thing. And they have put out a statement about tonight’s exciting New Hampshire primary results. They’re quite pleased with the results!
“By adding a definitive victory in New Hampshire to his win in Iowa, Governor Mitt Romney has established himself as a candidate who can unite Republicans and a clear threat to Barack Obama in November,” said R. Clarke Cooper, Log Cabin Republicans Executive Director. “Governor Romney was consistently clear in the debates that he opposes discrimination based on sexual orientation. While he continues to support a constitutional amendment banning marriage equality – a position Log Cabin strongly opposes – he is also on record saying that such an amendment has been tried, rejected, and is unlikely to ever succeed. Romney has also taken a position that the repeal of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ has been settled, and he would not seek to reinstitute the ban on open service.
“Congressman Ron Paul’s second place finish underscores New Hampshire’s commitment to the libertarian principles he has consistently championed, which include his votes against the anti-family Federal Marriage Amendment and for the repeal of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.’ Log Cabin Republicans are also pleased with the strong performance of Governor Jon Huntsman, a solid supporter of civil unions for same-sex couples and a candidate who frequently talked about the need for Americans to do more for gay rights.
So, compared to the likes of Perry, Bachmann and Santorum, the middle-of-the-road bigotry of Mitt Romney is a relief! [Log Cabin Republicans]

Gay Clergy Considers Suing The Church of England

Dr Jeffrey John: senior Gay cleric plans legal action after bishop role snub

Dr Jeffery John, the Church of England’s most senior openly gay cleric is considering legal action against the church for discrimination unless he his made a bishop.
John, the dean of St Albans, was forced to stand down as Bishop of Reading in 2003, by the Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, following objections from conservative evangelicals.
Then in 2010, Dr John was a candidate for Bishop of Southwark but a leaked memo written by the late Dean of Southwark Colin Slee, claimed Williams was one of those who tried to ‘wreck’ Dr John’s chances.
The celibate priest is in a long standing civil partnership with another cleric and has become so frustrated with his treatment that he has hired an employment and discrimination law specialist to fight his case under equality law.
Church lawyers published new guidelines last summer in line with the Equality act, which said candidates cannot be blocked from senior church posts because they are gay as long as they do not have sex.

Before This Week the FBI Asserted } Men Can Not Be Raped

Did you know that before this week, the FBI didn't recognize that men could be raped? Since 1927, rape has been defined by the FBI as the "carnal knowledge of a female forcibly and against her will." But thanks to a new provision, that definition is finally being updated. "Rape is a devastating crime and we can't solve it unless we know the full extent of it,'' said Vice President Joe Biden, who worked closely with advocates on the issue. "This long-awaited change to the definition of rape is a victory for women and men across the country whose suffering has gone unaccounted for over 80 years."
The definition will now read: “Penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim.” Attorney General Eric Holder called the change "long overdue'' and added that the new provision will "provide us with a more accurate understanding of the scope and volume of these crimes.''
Nearly one in five women and one in 71 men in the U.S. have been raped at some time in their lives, according to a 2010 survey by the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which used a broader definition.
This new definition is particularly important in light of the Jerry Sandusky case. The former Penn. State football coach has been accused of sexually abusing at least 10 male victims. Sandusky’s accusers would not be considered rape victims under the FBI’s old definition. Gothamist.com

Tool Kit For Troops DIscharge Under DADT

       BY JAMES WITHERS

A group which works with gay troops in the US has released a toolkit that could help thousands discharged under ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’.
The US military policy banned lesbians, gays and bisexuals from serving openly in the armed forces. And its repeal has been welcomed by current gay servicemen and women. But the lifting of the ban also affects those who were drummed out of service under the rule.
In September 2011, the same month the 17-year-old policy ended, the US Defense Department released information informing discharged veterans they could seek corrections to their records. Such changes to official documents can impact Veteran Administration benefits and employment. The organization estimates as many as 100,000 veterans may qualify for such assistance.
The Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, an organization that works with gay troops, recently put on its website a toolkit to assist troops who were discharged because of sexuality.
‘Cleaning up these records is an important piece of restoring dignity and honor to these American patriots and closing the books on this shameful piece of our history. SLDN stands ready to assist all those who seek our help,’ said the network’s executive director Aubrey Sarvis.
‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ was originally put in place by President Bill Clinton in 1993. It ruled that gay sailors and soldiers were not to be discriminated against, but LGBT troops could not openly discuss their orientations. According to SLDN more than 14,000 troops were discharged since the system was put in place.
