NY Gay Marriage Vote Next Week-We hope

The Republicans in Albany are asking for more cover for their hides. They want the Governor and the Democrats to agree to give more exceptions to the Catholic Church. What those are we don't know but anybody can guess. The fine tuning of this Legislation so we can get one more republican is more cover so they can say they voted for gay marriage but they fought until the last minute  for more Protections and they protected the supreme church.

Hopefully the Governor and some of the sponsors of the gay marriage legislation can give them something without weakening the law to give gay men and women equal rights to get married under the law.

Im posting  a pieace Celeste Katz that appeared at the Ny Daily news today

Celeste Katz:
Looks like a state Senate vote on legalizing same-sex marriage in New York will have to wait until next week... at the earliest.

Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos just told reporters that there’s been no decision yet on whether to bring the matter to a vote as his members still deliberate the issue of religious carve outs.
“There is a concern right now as to the unintended consequences of some of the religious causes, carveouts, protections and we’re reviewing that,” Skelos said after emerging from a nearly three-hour conference of the Senate’s GOP majority.
“People want to feel comfortable if it is reported to the floor, there will not be as Archbishop Dolan mentioned, unintended consequences to this legislation,” Skelos added.
Skelos said Republicans want to avoid a repeat of what happened after the Legislature passed the Sexual Orientation Non-Discrimination Act, when some Catholic agencies discontinued adoption services.
Skelos did not say when the Senate might finally decide to take up the measure, but noted that Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver will be observing the Sabbath and unavailable until Sunday.
On the issue of rent regulations, Skelos said he would be willing to consider passing a short-term extension of the regulations – allowing them to be in place through the weekend – if all 30 Democrats agree to go along with it.
