After All The Talk, NAACP Comes OUT in Support of The Gay

NAACP Units Rally for Collective Bargaining Rights Across the Midwest
Even though the hype surrounding the NAACP stems from their lack of willingness to assist with the LGBT community. A new faction of the NAACP is going against the grain and is not only coming out for gay rights but are even electing various members of the LGBT into elected positions.
The newly revived Worcester, Massachusetts’s chapter recently elected openly gay Ravi Perry as their president this month. Perry, a Clark University political science professor, states that, “This is the new NAACP. This is a human rights organization, and we have an obligation to fight discrimination at all levels.”
This is far outcry from Rev. Keith Ratlif, Sr. who has recently been making waves by proclaiming that LGBT people(persons of color or otherwise) should back off the civil rights movement.
So the jig is up! As much as the supporters of the old way are against this, the NAACP is truly going back to their roots as a biracial organization and ones that promote change for all that are being marginalized. So let it be known that, ladies & gentlemen – the NAACP is recruiting gays and it has been happening for a while. The push for diversity began under then-NAACP chairman, Julian Bond and has continued under, Benjamin Jealous- who at 35, is the organization’s youngest president.
