However, the real cause of this environmental disaster is clear: It is a direct result of our dependence on oil. With thousands more oil rigs off America’s coasts, we cannot wait any longer for our leaders to end this dangerous addiction to oil, and pave the way to a clean energy future. Add your voice – tell your leaders to oppose new drilling and support comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation that limits carbon pollution and curbs our dependence on oil. For decades, Big Oil and other dirty polluters have spent millions lobbying Congress against clean energy in order to protect their bottom line. And now, with the Gulf Coast oil disaster, we’re witnessing the economic and environmental damage caused by our continued addiction to oil.
